Thanks! Boy did I mess up on my first post. Didn't mean to advertise there was just so many rumors i wanted to clear them up. Look forward to feeding you and your family.
We will be there! I was just enjoying the thread about food and didn't view it as advertising. I'm all about some BBQ!
So, this place is gonna have live music too?
Yes we will have it several nights during week on our concert stage and possibly trying Thursday - Friday during lunch. I feel like people tend to get excited about the end of week and that maybe some live music will help them feel good about the weekend. What's your option on that? Honestly it would be 12-2 acoustic act. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your support and looking forward to feeding your family.

It sounds good as long as it's not too noisy...I've been in a few other places that had live music during the day and it's hard to talk at lunch like you normally do if the music is at a night level. Live music is always a plus though. Just make sure the food is always priority ONE!!!! Without food that makes people want to return, all the atmoshpere in the world won't bring them back. I've been known to drive as much as 4 or 5 hours and pay too much for good BBQ, but I wouldn't walk across the street for a free sandwich I didn't think was any good. Good luck and I hope y'all hit a grand slam!
Now the important question, what type of beer will you have?
Now the important question, what type of beer will you have?
Too bad we can't like individual comments! lol!
When does it open?
The chairs should be in early next week so hopefully open late next week will keep you posted.
Apparently the beer question was ignored. Are you going to have alcoholic beverages?
I am curious what types of Q to expect. Tell me you got a line on some good brisket?
Will you be open late and have more of a bar/pub atmosphere in the evenings? Also, are you non-smoking? tia.

Yes, We have a bar that stretches over 40 feet, 6 beers will be on tap at all times with the majors Coors Lt, BLight, Miller and most of the time 1 prem and one import that will change from time to time. Fully stocked bar with all the Premiums, Calls, and Wells and also frozen drinks. There is a half wall seperating the bar and the general seating. Our Lounge Seating is 50 Gallon Whiskey Barrels with 40" Top and 4 Wood Bar Stools.
When does it open?
It will open around July 21-22 if there are not to many more delays.

It's answered above. haha sorry been trying to answer all the facebook questions and emails. It's overwhelming the response we are getting from this town. Hope to see you and your family soon!

Our BBQ and Ribs are completely Smoke from Start to Finish. No Boiling Here, no off site smoking! We have several sauces that some can use but will be favorable enough without sauce. Yes we are in the south so yes we will have a white sauce. As far as the brisket......better loosen the belt because we have a brisket stew that will knock your socks off.
THANKS

We will be non-smoking all but the Food of Course. People will be able to order from kitchen till 9-10ish but the live music will continue until. Hope that answered your question. It's important to us not to be mistaken for a bar/pub we are a restaurant with live music and entertainment events.
Looking forward to your opening. We have guests from Tampa in town next weekend, if your chairs arrive.... it's going to be a busy weekend for us so hope we can make it. I did hear a rumor about the roof being opened up to dining?.... But I've seen nothing on your FB page....... Good luck guys, OB.
It is in our drawings to have a rooftop Mezzanine that can be an outside eating area in good weather and also host wedding receptions, birthday parties, class reunions, and private gatherings. It was going to take us 6 more months and tons of engineering and drawings so we put that on hold until hopefully next summer. Look forward to hosting you and your guest to a great experience.
Thanks for the Post.
Any prospective date of opening yet?

thanks. will be good to be able to go hear music without smelling like an ashtray the next day. sounds like you will have a decent beer selection as well. hope you can carry some sweetwater 420.
I am looking forward to this place! Good luck Flo Bama. I can't wait to smell that smoked bbq on Court Street.
Totally agree, about the smell of ribs & BBQ Cooking. I likewise look forward to the opening and hope they do great in that location. I would assume their biggest difficulty to overcome, at first, will be the parking availability but I can't say I know all the availability in that area as it is so maybe that won't be an issue. Is there any potential plans that possibly some nights some comedy entertainment may be booked and provided or are you just going for music?.
I guess I missed it, but where is the restaurant going to be located? Downtown or 7 points?
I asked that question in the thread that got deleted. It is going to be on Court St., but I forgot the address.
It is located directly across Court Street from Rosie's Mexican Restaurant and on the same side of the street as Ricatonis.
yes, across from rosie's
Open yet?
Anybody tried it yet?
Yeah I tried it the other day. Their menu was wrong though. On the menu said the sides were 90 cents each but when the charge came through it actually was $1.79 for each side. I paid the higher cost without complaining but did inform them some folks would get upset.
As for the food. The BBQ Chicken was not as good as Southern BBQ or Ricks. It wasn't bad and was definitely smoked well. The fries were the usual Sysco supplied restaurant fries but the better kind and were good. The Baked Beans were above average.
It was a good meal and the atmosphere was good. They have a great set up for music also. All in all I will eventually go back and try the ribs and maybe the pork some day but on a scale of 0 - 10 I'd put it at a solid 7. That is NOT factoring in the Sweet Tea which without a doubt is the worst sweet tea I have had in the area. It tasted like maybe they used a sweetener other than sugar but the waitress said no that it was sugar so I don't know why it tasted so odd but I'd go with a Coke until they get that fixed.
One question : where is the BBQ pit/smoker?
Unless it's out back I just don't know for if it is inside there is not the hint of smoke in the interior.
A commercial smoker/pit is designed to be entirely inside the building with mechanical venting to eliminate smoke from inside the place. If everything is done right you will be smelling the bbq smoke out in the streets surrounding the restaurant making you wonder where that good food is being cooked. Good marketing will have someone outside the door announcing that this is the place to eat if you like good barbecue. I have not made it there yet.
I have been aware of the Lauderdale health department making the bbq cooker be entirely inside the building, so don't be expecting to find a grill anywhere in sight!
I hope they do well and the college kids don't discover them too soon. I am looking forward to a wonderful ROOMY place to enjoy live music where you actually can dance and also can find a quiet corner to meet friends and talk.
ate there for lunch today, and hopefully our experience can be attributed to them only being open a week or so. 2 in our group had wings, 2 had bbq sandwiches, 1 had bbq nachos, 1 had a loaded potato, and the other had chicken fingers. first off, we got there early so they weren't busy yet, but it took a long time to get our food. second, the smoked chicken wasnt ready yet, which if you're going to be open for lunch you SHOULD have ALL menu items available. though with my restaurant work experience plus my experiences smoking meat, i understand that not everything will always go as planned. as far as the food goes, the bbq sandwich was good, pretty standard pulled pork, had the right amount of smoke and wasn't dry. on par with Ricks, definitely better than Southern. the mustard slaw was some of the best i've had though. the wings, i came so close to getting the wings and i'm so glad i didnt. i tried one of my friends and it had a really good flavor, good smoke, but it was one of the driest wings i've ever had. they definitely need to work on that. jalapenos were left off of the bbq nachos, but they did bring my buddy some hot sauce and took 25% off his bill. had no complaints from the stuffed potato or chicken fingers. both the bbq sauce and white sauce was very good as well. the place is really nice and they do have a great setup for live music. i'll definitely go back and give em another try once it becomes a well oiled machine. oh and the prices are very reasonable.
thanks for the comments. We are working on improving every day and hope that your next experience is nothing short of spectacular. Thanks again for the criticism we can't fix problems without comments like yours because we may not know they are happening. Look forward to wowing you on your next visit.

Our smoker is stationed outside against our building where as the door in inside the kitchen. Hickory Smoke 6,000 lb smoker is our smoker of choice. Gas and Electric unit.

I was impressed. Great job with the building, service, food and music.... http://obscorner.blogspot.com/...house-part-deux.html
Ate there last night for the first time. The food was good and the music even better.
Our second visit to FloBama was better than the first. I do think the Rib's were better than the Chicken but could be we'll have to try the Chicken again as once isn't a fair judgment for a new restaurant. One glaring dislike though that continues through and I don't see any remedy to unless a change in direction is decided is their "Sweet Tea" or Iced Tea. This is about the only BBQ Restaurant or Restaurant period that they don't serve brewed tea. Their tea comes out of a dispenser provided by the soft drink vendor and has a most "instant type" taste to it.
I hope that one addition or change to the place at a future time will be the addition of brewed tea to the menu for anyone wanting true Southern type pre-sweetend tea or unsweet brewed tea won't find it at FloBama.
The food is very good and the prices reasonable but whoever decided to open the place must not be a tea drinker.
