I hope that one addition or change to the place at a future time will be the addition of brewed tea to the menu for anyone wanting true Southern type pre-sweetend tea or unsweet brewed tea won't find it at FloBama.

The food is very good and the prices reasonable but whoever decided to open the place must not be a tea drinker.

I saw someone else post about the tea on their facebook. They said they would consider a tea change. They do seem to be open to suggestions, but the place is great. Wings are the best in the Shoals.

On your menu you list a half smoke chicken plate and a whole smoked chicken plate.  Does the whole plate literally a whole smoke chicken or a half?  Then would the half smoke chicken plate have a full half chicken or half of a half chicken, i.e. a chicken quarter?

Also, how many bones on the small rib plate and how many bones on the large rib plate?

Most of their parking is on Court St... Complain to the city for lack of HC parking.

Ok, so I have ate here a few times now.  First time I ordered the polish dog and had the mustard slaw added at the suggestion of one of the owners.   It was phenomenal.   The polish dog is the best I have had since Butlers went out of business and the mustard slaw may be the best I have ever had.  Second time I had the wrap and potato salad.   The wrap was pretty good but did have a few dry bit of meat in it, and the potato salad was very good.  Third time I got the half smoked chicken with mustard slaw and fries.  Everything was up to par on the day too and the white sauce is easily the best I have ever had.

The service has been hit and miss.  One time they accidentally brought me two orders of fries, but they only charged me for one realizing they had made a mistake, which is good because I couldn't eat the second order.    I understand they are new and still training a lot of servers, so I tend to overlook miniscule problems like that.   All servers and hosts have been friendly and somewhat attentive and that matters more at this stage to me.

Pros:   Good to great food thus far.   Awesome atmosphere.  Very spacious, huge stage and good sound system.

Cons:  Beer limited to most of your run of the mill watered down mass produced American crap beer.  Service needs to come along a little (and I am confident it will.)

Suggestions if I may:   Get a few different beers.  Would love to see some craft beers in there.  And how about even things like Leinekugal, Guinness, or New Castle?  All those are pretty popular and would probably sell well.

On the music front, we have some great local bands.  Do not know what it would take to get them there to play, but some of the best I have seen and that have a good following are Doc Dailey & Magnolia Devil, The Bear, Lauderdale, The Pollies, and Spanish Castle Magic Electrix.   Would really like to see these bands on that stage with that system.

Kind of disappointed as of last night.   Some friends and I went last night, which was the first time we actually went to experience the "night life" there.   The food was once again, very good.   However, we came in right as the kitchen was closing so we were some of the last to get food.   Our waitress was very slow in getting our drinks and what not to us.  And then when she did actually come around, she just kept asking if we were done and ready for check.

I do understand turning over tables is how a restaurant makes money, but this was after hours, after the kitchen had closed.   We continually told her no, but one friend did ask for his because he had to leave early.  I had told her earlier to take the food but we would be drinking some more adult beverages.   Yet, when she brought his, she brought the rest of ours.  Just sort of felt like we were being rushed out and that's what we did.   We were ready to spend more time and money, but didn't feel it necessary after that.

Also, no offense, but the band sucked that was playing.

Would you consider approaching the city of Florence about providing some handicap parking near your entrance?  Also, I was there with a party recently and your manager had parked his huge monster of a truck right at your door, parked on the line, taking up two parking places and declined to go out and park it properly.  This was on a Friday evening and I felt that he had no business parking right at the door and taking up a parking space needed by a paying customer.  This sort of attitude could cost you some return business.

That's funny!

It's good to know that the owner/manager of FloBama keep an eye on the post here because I consider the health ratings a very important reflection on the restaurant.  True the inspector can have a bad week/day but my wife and I always try and see what the most recent health score was and if it's in the 70's we usually leave right away.  In the low 80's we usually try and read what caused the low rating for sometimes they can be hyper critical.  Still it's important and I would hope FloBama will work to get it back up.

Sorry Forum I posted a reply on Facebook and thought I posted a reply on here but here is my response on facebook.

Barb Smith What's with the low health ratings? Was gonna try ya'll this weekend, but....  Heard your food was really good

Ellen Mcgowen Bart --- thanks for the honest explanation.  This says a lot about you.  Be on the lookout for the Kudzu Queens to pop in soon for good food and music.  Who knows --- we might just do some dancin' while we are there!!!

Barb Smith Thanks!  Didn't think it was anything too drastic.  Like I said everyone has told me how good the food is.

I finally made it back there today for lunch, and i must say that the wings were awesome! absolutely perfect, honestly couldn't have been better. right amount of smoke, right amount of seasoning, perfect amount of heat, very juicy, the skin was just right...definitely my favorite wing in the shoals now. as long as they keep being as good as they were today i will get wings no where else. Keep it up Flobama! oh and everyone at my table was more than satisfied.

Saw this place just days before it opened and thought "I can't wait to try this place!"  The atmosphere alone looked so inviting.  Now that I've seen all the comments about food, it is a definite must to get there asap.  Also, note to owner:  there is an incredible little duo called Blue Mother Tupelo that you have absolutely got to get for music.  You will not be disappointed.  If you have them often enough, I may just have to change my mailing address.

(please, please, please make sure you advertise your artists!)

I have eaten there several times for lunch.  The service is excellent.  The food is SO good and not expensive at all.  So far my favorite is the smoked chicken, potato salad and baked beans.  I love the look of the place.  I can see how even with a full house that it would not feel crowded with those high ceilings.  I look forward to going on a night when you have live music...stage is fabulous, so nice to see a great location for a live show.  Great job, y'all!

Went in during Alabama/Vandy and Auburn/Arkansas football games last night.  Greeter asked, "will you be looking at Alabama or Auburn?"--to decide which tables had a clear view of the 4 big screen tv's.  Manager was sitting at table with customers when they should have been pushing the wait staff to kick it up about 3 notches--took 15 minutes after ordering to get our drinks. Very little food or drinks were being promptly delivered.  Our appetizer came 30 seconds before the food.  BBQ sandwiches were "smoked", not barbecued.  Meat was chunked instead of pulled.  Mustard slaw is triple first class.  (After 18 years living in Memphis, my BBQ standards are high.)

The restaurant is beautiful,  it's so huge that it's very inefficient for a server.  From the front tables to the kitchen must be 150'+.  The bar is so large that it could take 4 bartenders--and it swallows 1 bartender.  Good bars are much smaller in size and more efficient.  Would it be better to move the eaters to the back and keep the drinkers in the front during dinner time?

Suggestion:  Go to Memphis to observe how a # of high performing BBQ restaurants are managed.  While you're there, find a pit cook that can teach you how to work that magnificent cooker you have.  Smoked is different from barbecued.  BBQ sells--smoked doesn't.  Steamed buns do not work with barbecue--they must be toasted or the sandwich will be mush.

Your food prices are reasonable enough for college students, and the location is great.  We wish you best of luck, because we need a place like Flobama.
