Maybe if they didn't have to pay $75 to be in the parade there might be more area high schools that could afford to be in the parade. Also, it cost a lot of money for high schools to pay the bus drivers and gas to attend the parades. The City of Florence might consider paying them like Muscle Shoals did...the bands were paid $300 to march in the parade. This help pay their costs to get to the parade since the school systems do not pay for the bus drivers or the gas the bands do. Just a thought for the City of Florence next year.
I agree. Why would Florence "charge" a high school band to be in a parade. In fact, like one poster said, the city should pay them to participate in order to cover their expenses. A parade is definitely not a good parade without lots of bands. If I were a high school band outside Florence city limits, why would I want to "pay" to be in "their" parade? lol
