something about this whole deal smells bad, why would a 20 year old be hanging out a lot with a 50 year old disabled man?  just a thought, was he selling his prescription pain med's to supplement that disability check?

you may well be right unclegus, there's definately more to this story than any of us know about at this point, it's really sad that someone would be willing to kill over a few bucks and a handfull of pain pills, you never know who you're dealing with these days.

Actually patriot, it is a common occurrence. Not the killing but the preying upon the older men for money and drugs. I have no knowledge of the details in this case but have seen many victims who were duped by the thought of companionship. When I first read the paper I assumed a scenario much like the one described in this recent article.

I am the neice to this handicapped man an my family is suffering because she wanted a few dollars an some pain meds yes he knew her he was a great man he had many friends he would do anything to help somone he did not deserve to day the way he did i saw him that day it was very grusome no he didnt sell his meds to sumplement his check he wasn't that kind of person but he was a nice guy an a family man he couldn't even walk she just murdered him an i hope she pays for what she has done to my uncle an our whole family NOONE knows him like we do he would never sell his pills or anything true he let her in but she had been there several times before with her mother she is just a crackhead an she killed him flat out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree it isn't that uncommon. It happens every day. The Elderly and/ or disabled are easy targets for anyone looking for some easy cash or a pill fix. I've seen it happen to an older family member in the past. The man is usually just lonely and happy to have someone around. Later on things start missing out of the house, money disappears, many lies are told and by then it is too late.

It's sad that people jump to wild conclusions and then turn around and imply that the victim is guilty of contributing to his/her own death! Fact is this man did NOTHING to cause his own death in the ways you are implying. He was a FINE man, who had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He wasn't out smoking crack, shooting up, stealing or causing any trouble to anyone including himself. He suffered a stroke and still didn't let that take him down. Why did the 20 yr old hang out at his home? She was usually there with OTHER'S, who loved spending time with this man. He was a very funny man, could talk about any subject and get you to laugh when you were having a tough day.

This evil woman took a father from a daughter, a grandfather from grandson's, a brother from a sister and brother's, an uncle from many nieces and nephews and a friend from many. Nobody should be taken in such a violent way. It is sick to think that people are so quick to judge the victim and forget that the ONLY one who should be blamed and called to answer for the actions that caused the death is the KILLER. I don't care how old she is, or what her childhood was like or anything that 99% of guilty killers try to use to get out of the trouble. She went inside that home knowing she was going to come out of it a KILLER. I hope they do go for Capital murder and she is given the death sentence. If any case cried for that, it would be this one. Now please stop jumping to conclusions and taking the focus away from the fact that a handicap man (who really couldn't defend himself),was taken from us and was forced to endure a painful end to his life and this gutless, evil woman should be held accountable for her actions!

First let me express my condolences to you and the rest of the family. I was there yesterday to pay my respects and you could tell the love that you all have for Dave and he had for you all. He will be greatly missed by many including my husband, son and myself. We will be here for your family any time we are needed. God Bless you and may he continue to keep you all in his arms as you go through the days ahead.

So very sorry for this family of David Pennington , ty souljagurl and proudwhsmomme  for your replys, in time most of the facts will come out in the court room. Some of the facts may never be ln  known .   We will be there to support this family.

When will these people not understand, if you and others hang out, and something as horrible as this happenes, you would be some of the first supects in a case as this.

I wonder how many times this girl had been in some type trouble with drugs,  maybe never but she sure is now !   Allso wondering if she was the only one there or acted alone.

This brings back the though of another disabled man Murdered in the Central area , and still unsolved or is it listed as an unsolved murder?   Maybe he got away with it "thanks to a little lady that went to church with the family of the defendants " she should have excused herself before the trial started , but when time came she would not cast a vote either way as the other 11 jurors did as Guilty of Murder !

Good job to Lauderdale County investigators.

I knew David and his brothers and sister and his parents. Back many years ago we grew up together until they moved to the Central/ Macedonia area. Even then as kids you knew David was the cut up of the bunch. Always laughing and poking fun. Over the years I know people change but somethings stay the same too.... This was always a hard working family and it saddens me they have lost David for a few pills and some money.

Bamafnatk, I'd say that case is still open, but the man was no saint. He sold pills to teenagers. Not saying he deserved to be murdered, but it was a totally different situation. He was a killer himself.

THanks everyone we don't know all the details about her arrest we as a family think there was more than her that was there that night she has been charged with murder an now she is wanting to talk to the D.A. we are so Hurt that this has happend to Uncle David he was such a great man an will be missed so much this girl deserves life in prision or the death penalty she is a drughead an has been in trouble before we want to thin k the investagatrs they have been on top of this case since it happened Uncle David deserves Justice so he can rest in peace!

Infomercial .. So sorry I should not have brought the other case into this, yes the situation is defferant in one way , but still it was because of someones drug addiction they are the same and no one should have been murdered.

I sure am not emplying Mr David Pennington, sold, or gave away drugs.

I was aware of what happened years ago.

Sadly it is a common factor that worthless people who can't bother to get off the rears to gain money the legal way, will go this way and harm innocent people. Granted Dave isn't suffering any longer but that isn't helping his family deal with this. They can't understand why him, why now and why the way it was done. Stabbed over 70 times is a an overkill and soo not needed. All they had to do is take his walker or wheelchair away, they didn't need to kill. I really hope that full justice is done. Also hope that the case that was brought up from year's ago will gain some form of real justice too. Granted Dave was NOTHING like that person, but they didn't deserve to be killed in the fashion that they were. With the old case, we have such new tech that they should be able to find something to hold the person/s accountable. As far as Dave's killer/s, I hope they rott in hell!
