Data from Florida reveal that, in 2018, an overwhelming majority of women reported obtaining an abortion for reasons other than to preserve their own life or health, or due to fetal-health complications.

Women obtained about 70,000 abortion procedures in Florida last year, and more than three-quarters of those were classified as having been “elective,” meaning that the women did not provide a reason for having obtained the procedure. Another 20 percent of those abortions were classified as having been chosen for “social or economic reasons.”

Meanwhile, the instances that abortion-rights supporters tend to focus on accounted for a tiny percentage of the overall abortions in Florida last year. Fewer than 1.5 percent of the abortions were in cases where a woman’s physical health was threatened, fewer than 2 percent were in cases where a woman cited psychological-health problems, and fewer than .3 percent were in cases where a woman’s life was in danger. One percent of the cases involved serious fetal abnormalities. Only .14 percent of women reported having obtained an abortion due to having been raped, and only .01 percent took place in cases of incest.

A 2004 survey by the pro-choice research group the Guttmacher Institute confirms what Florida’s data suggest, finding that just 4 percent of women who obtained abortions reported a physical-health problem, 3 percent cited possible fetal-health problems, and fewer than .5 percent were pregnant as the result of having been raped. The most common reasons women cited for obtaining an abortion were not being ready for a child or another child, or being unable to afford a child.

These statistics expose a common falsehood promoted by abortion-rights activists, who insist that women never choose abortion frivolously and that most abortions take place in grave circumstances, such as cases when a woman’s life is in danger or the fetus is too sick to survive after birth. In reality, a slim minority of women choose abortion for these reasons.

That can be dealt with in ways that doesn't take the lives of millions
of cruelly killed humans for the sake of recreational abortions.

It just may not be accurate to base your findings on a 15 year old report. IJS.

One report from a year ago, one report from 15 years ago.
I wonder what Republicans are thinking... the party of 'less government' just wants the government to legislate their religion into every American's life.

No one "insists" this.

Abortion is a symptom. Not a cause.  Banning abortion only treats the system and doesn't treat the cause. For some reason, the "pro life" crowd never addresses the elective, social, or economic reasons that women choose abortion.

Pro choice supporters know the stats and have been fighting to improve the social and economic reasons. The pro lifers....have been staring at one tree claiming to know the forest.

Please, use the term 'pro-birth'... they're not 'pro-life' in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Refusing children food, medical care, education... Republicans are not now, nor have they ever been 'pro-life'.

Now they can kill them at birth...how long before they can kill them before age 1...then later before age 5...etc? These baby killers don't like to see their work displayed for others to see...but love doing it. Take a look at Jim Carry's depiction of Kay Ivey being aborted. They know exactly how gruesome an abortion is...and instead of being horrified...push for the right to kill even more babies. It must be awful to be the kind of person that would fight for this horrific "right" to kill the preborn, instead of pushing and insisting on education and responsibility of the women getting abortions and the men impregnating them.

When it comes to abortion, libs will come up with any silly reason for it.
Any man made law protecting the killing of human life because of the
wording is one wrong thing to begin with but the post birth death panel
is a hideous way to silence the cry of someone struggling to live.

What in the sane world is a post birth death panel and can you site an example of one?

Here's another term I've never heard: recreational abortion. Are you saying women become pregnant just to have an abortion because it's fun or feels good?
