There is something I would like to bring to your attention about Foodland. This chain supports a lot of the local vendors who are attempting to break into the market. They give these vendors a place to attempt to sale their product.
Trowbridge,O'quirres sausage, Southland's BBQ Sauce,Katies and Dick Howells slaw, etc...it is for this very reason that I shop with them for certain items...
I have talked with Piggly Wiggley about stocking local vendors. After several months they still do not have any local products on their shelves....according to the managers of the store, they have asked several times corporate office to allow them to stock the local items but do not have a approval to do so at the time I am posting this.
They stated, it is a vetting process and because they are a large chain, it takes longer for these vendors to get approved.

Walmart does not carry any local vendor products that I am aware of...if someone knows of a local product Walmart is carrying please let us know....

To carry it to a broader point, Foodland, at least the one on Darby Drive is a very nice grocery store. It's always clean, the people that work there are very friendly. They have very good cuts of meat. The prices are competitive. I have had nothing but good experiences there.

I hate that Walmart has ruined many family businesses in mid to small towns and they've driven high quality grocery store chains out of this area. It's our loss. For that reason alone, I seldom shop at Walmart.

I understand they have good prices on everything but they ruin small business with their unfair ability to price so low and run people out of business. JUST MY OPINION, IM sure there are some very fine people that work there and thats great for them.
If you want the best meats for the price you should shop Big Star of Russellville. They support local vendors and their prices are way better than Foodlands. Example this week food land has select ribeye steaks for $6.98 lb where Big Star has Nothing but Choice Ribeyes for $5.99 a lb. Sweet corn on the cob at Foodland 4 ears for $2.48 @ BS 3 ears for $1.00
Several years ago I asked the Town Plaza manager why he distributed flyers for the bus to Tunica thereby supporting gambling but wwould not sell beera and wine. The flyer distribution was immediately discontinued. BTW. I love to go to Tunica. That was not the question. I posted several months ago that I resent the fact that I am not considered as sophisticated or whatever as the customers in Killen. I have been farther and eaten In more "exotic" and upscale places than most of the Killen residents,I am sure. As in all over Europe and Asia! I do not believe I should be compelled to go to Killen with gas over $4.OO a gallon!
