Ed, I agree with you but for some reason I have my doubts that Bush and Cheney will ever be punished for abusing their powers of office and lying about the war. It seems that we have more Neocons being born everyday. The media has stood behind Bush all the way and will continue to do so because Bush is on their side, meaning the side of corporations. It's sad to say that our politicians no longer represent the people of the United States but represent the powerful corporations and the very rich. The people have not reacted and they are not outraged and there is something wrong with this picture. You hear them complain at the gas pumps about the high gas prices but it stops there. You hear them complain about the war at the barber shop, but it stops there. I cannot figure out why people are not more outraged than they are. If they keep sleeping, government will gain more control as each minute passes, and the people will have less control.

McGovren is an experienced analyst and has been an outspoken critic of the Bush administration. He and a number of well experienced anaylists left or were forced out of the CIA because they would not go along with the lie.

Seymour Hersh has reported that the old "Contragate" team has been re-established in the White House and are out running their secret programs again. It would fit because the main suspect in the actual leak of the papers is Michael Leeden, an old Contragate player.

But the odd thing is I read that the break in at the Italian Embassy where the letter heads were stolen was described as amateurish and the main reason the CIA disconnected them as evidence was they were poorly forged and had the wrong names of the Niger government and counsel. Seems like very sloppy and unprofessional work.

The key is, was this a real CIA Black OP or was it coming from the old Contragate team with Tenet's approval.

As to why the people are so docile is an interesting question that those on the left have been wondering about also. Part of it is that they are distracted by the mainstream media with nonsense and frivolous stories about celebrities and run away brides. They ignore and down play serious stories like the Downing Street Memo, Impeachment and how the average workers are struggling to get by. Instead they focus on scapegoating immigrants and they praise the greed and ruthlessness of Wall Street and Corporate Globalization.
The American people trust their media and are allowing them to set the terms and the agendas.

We also have no real leaders. Most in Congress are just on the corporate payroll of contributions. The few real leaders like Kucinich, Sanders, Barbara Lee, John Connyers and even Ralph Nader are either ignored, ridiculed or down played. Step out of the line and the corporate media will smear and destroy you.

The American people are now concentrating on getting by. The corporate media paints a rosy picture and tries to make those who are having a tough time as "out of step" with the prosperity of America. But slowly people are beginning to get the picture and starting to organize. They have to realize they have been sold out by their government and media and need to take the reigns themselves and lead the way.

The American people are tough people and tolerant who will bear down and face the hardshis but one day, when they realize they are being robbed and lied to and tired of having their children do without and expect a lower standard of living they have or have them come hom,e in a body bag in the dead of night and they will explode. Just like in the 1960's.

That's why Bush and bunch passed the PATRIOT ACT. To squash this dissent when it happens.
