Forum being hijacked

I am so tired of the political crap! I realize that it is a hot topic but I don't come here for heated debate. Most just want to connect with like minded people and have a civil discussion, not solve all the problems of the world. The Forum now leaves an impression that we are all a bunch of pessimistic winers in the Shoals.

I am sorry if this is offensive to some members. Don't mean to be antagonistic but I used to enjoy the Times Daily Forum and it is not fun/entertaining/informative any more.

lol.. Im just like JustMe in that regard...

My mother however, loves to debate on here. I just mainly lurk and if I find something that peaks my interests, I reply to.

Maybe I'm lost here, but who is supposedly doing the hijacking? I'm not one here as often as most, so I don't know the in crowd or outsiders..

It's always been like this. Shoals Lover was notorious for starting tons of topics, very few actually got a reply.

Max, Although I am sure there are many that might feel your frustrations about pba, there is no reason to let him/her get under your skin.

I know that's easier said than done, in most cases, but really if he/she baited you out, you are only letting him/her win by getting so angry.

Just try to ignore him/her and move on. I've read some of pba's posts, and I shake my head at a lot of them too, I just choose to ignore the things I don't like.

After all, we, ourselves are to blame, if we let someone control our feelings on any forum or message board or anywhere else on the internet.

Although, I do agree, anyone that copies and pastes their way through a discussion, holds a weakness of not being able to be a free thinker.

Yes, this forum is hijacked....sometimes I have taken the bait, only when it is about something that I have a personal interest, then I catch myself sometimes falling prey and causing what they wanted to cause. For now, I just ignore their posts, as all they are looking for, it seems to me, is attention and a p-ing contest.

Mott, KS isn't going to be back on the computer tonight. Mainly cause this is the time that I work on the graphics that I have to have made for the site I work for, hence, I have the computer.

I read this message board for a while back in the fall and decided to join in November. There are a lot of cool people with great opinions that make you think sometimes. I only posted about 6 messages when one guy called me a chauvinist?! Just because he didn't agree with me I suppose?? It just seems like instead of being just that, a message board, some people take it too serious here, i.e. stating how long they've been posting here like it gives them some sort of special privilege or poking fun at other's typos and spelling errors. It's really a turn off.

I am politically on the other side of the fence from PBA's opinion. But at least PBA seems cool enough that if I were to debate him, he would still be polite to me. He doesn't seem to have the "my way or the highway" mentality that I get from some here. I actually enjoy some of the links that he has the right to post. I don't think it's been "hijacked." I would think hijacked meant that hackers would have taken control over the boards and you wouldn't be able to post/log in....not people who post something you don't agree with.

It's her computer, and since we live with her at the time being, I use it. We have cable modem too, but I rarely ever talk on the phone Although my mother likes the back and forth, I don't allow anyone on the net to rile me up, trust me, I've been challenged too many times as an admin to count.

I really don't know how many I have. I started out playing around with computers a long time ago...now I repair.sell a few for the fun. Not advertising though. I can't explain my fasination with them though...I hate when I sell one...

LOL.. I'd say you have more than enough elecronics. Kinda reminds me of one of my old friends' father's workshop.. xD

Max, I know where you are coming from and I guess this will shock you and others, but to tell you the truth, I don't CARE how many topics someone starts. If they are on the blessed IGNORE list, me and my bloodpressure know better than to answer them and I usually don't even open them. I am just glad this board is here. Someone earlier talked about the "whining" (Dog don't "whine" I growl and howl, and ***** and moan) but when I see something good going on in town I try to point that out to. Refer to my support of Scott Carrier. All in all, I stated in another post that I have been on other Shoals boards and if you think this one is being hijacked, don't ever try to post on another one I know about. Won't mention any websites but this board is by FAR superior not only in posts but posters and topics. NOW SEE, THAT WAS POSITIVE! LOL THE DOG!

I would not think I forced you to read any topic, You're just scare someone may read something that might open there eyes,
and may see things are not like your point of view.

I don't know if hijacked is the proper term or not. I'm totally on the opposite side of the fence from pba politically so I tend to just ignore his threads. Pass right on to something that interests me.

I agree with voices. Just a hint, but being really offensive is not a way to gain support.

How Can a Message Board be hijacked? No One is REQUIRED to respond to anything. I do think there are more exciting and appropriate places to wrangle over political shenanigans but they can get dangerous if the Service staff overserves one of the more belligerant participants.
I know for certain that I take myself to seriously in here, but I am just honing my writing skills so I can get a syndicated column in the Tribune News Group...or is it Westinghouse Media? I can't remember, I have sent out so many samples.

I copy and past the headline of a story, my replies are my own!! I may copy and past something for you to read in ref. to the story for you to read. And you people never do anywrong? you never copy and paste yourself do you? Don't really believe the forum is being hijacked. It may take on a certain bent because of more prolific posters. However, if you dont like the shape it is in,then post your replys or new topics and have a ball.

jion, that is sort of my opnion to the forums as well. I have not posted as much lately,just kinda bored with many of the topics,but hey i do read them and if i do not like it, i just choose not to reply.
There is always the option to START new threads by everyone!
