I originally came to the Times Daily website to keep up with news and discuss local events in the forum. For the past several weeks the forum has been bombarded by people like PBA with slanted nation wide news stories - some from less than trustworthy sources. This has gotten way out of control and although much has been said about this nothing has been done.

We shouldn't have to deal with a slew of political propaganda on a local forum. If you guys at Times Daily want the forum to be PBA's sounding board that’s fine. Realize however that real people with self-formulated opinions are going to move away from this forum. You will be left with no locals, no discussion of local stories, and no unique perspectives. Just select copied and pasted tidbits of propaganda.

No longer seeing a purpose in visiting the forum and I will make this my last post. I have enjoyed our interactions but as of late the frustration derived from my visits here have outweighed anything meaningful. It's gotten old. I've become resigned to the fact I can find better, more rewarding things to do to while avoiding work. Wink

Uber.. I know that there have been a lot of times that you and I do not agree on Politics, and that is cool... I do NOT think, however, that we have ever disrespected each other in our disagreements.

This is one post that I am in complete agreement with you on... too much spam... There are pages upon pages of technically UNFINISHED posts that were just allowed to slip away from our grasp because of the spam... Good posts, gone, because none of us can find the time to ressurect them.... Frowner

I do NOT want you leaving the forums, and I CALL UPON TD TO DO SOMETHING!!!!

AM or AP or TIMESDAILY: everyone here talking about leaving are the originals on the OLD forums!!!! We have already lost a few GREAT members who there is no way for any of us to get in touch to ask to come back... NOW PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE YOU LOSE THE REST OF US... ME INCLUDED... I am on UBER's side here, and that is because he is correct in his statement!!!!!!!!
Uber.. if this helps you any, I was told about a "PLAN" in email just now... A plan to get rid of some of the people on the forum who actually could think for themselves... Yes, you were one, and surprisingly I am one also... LOL!!! There are more, there are several...

This plan is going on behind the scenes, thinking if they make any of us angry enough, they will control the forum... well... if they are that much of a control freak,...

I say LET 'EM HAVE IT!!!! Nothing of interest on here anyway, just OLD HISTORY LESSONS... OLD HISTORY I REMEMBER!!! I dont need the lessons, or the copying/pasting....

Yep, UBER, I think I am with you on this one... TIMES DAILY... AP... AM.. has done NOTHING to stop this, NOTHING, even with complaints by the dozens... but they allow it to go on...

Another point you should notice, Uber, is that when a few talked about a FOOD Forum... WAAALAAA, it was there... so there ARE people on this forum that is listened to... Guess you, and I and some of the other OLDER MEMBERS, who were members LONG before this new forum came into existance is no longer wanted nor needed!!!!

Kindred,

I want to comment on something you mentioned here. (This has nothing to do with Uber.) I think those of us who liked the idea of a food forum owe a debt of gratitude to traderconnections. Traderconnections did the leg work and the "behind the scenes" contacts and calls while keeping that thread's momentum going. I really appreciate it. Thanks, TC.

e... I KNOW that, I have BEEN here and READ that... I UNDERSTAND that... I was just subtely trying to say what "I" wanted to say to people who KNOW me.... and it has NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE FOOD FORUM... NOTHING, that was an example...

Kindred, take a breath and have that second sip of coffee. I was just trying to say "thanks" to someone who has done a positive thing for this forum (taking it beyond cut & paste). Your comment made me realize that I hadn't said "thank you" to him, and especially for the benefit of those who are newer or aren't regulars and who didn't know he was responsible. Your example just reminded me that I hadn't yet said "thank you," so I thought I'd throw it in. I know you only mentioned it as an example, and my comment wasn't about Uber.

See? Your comments about something else made me realize that I needed to mind my manners and tell someone else how much I appreciated his efforts. It's a good thing! Smiler

Second CUP down now, lol... didn't mean to sound curt, but that is MORNINGS, Big Grin ... anyway, thanks for explaining that and I totally agree, but I also know that this post is about UBER... and I think we need to make a post thanking trader for all he did, he did a great service to the forums!!!
my thoughts on several issues here
1. think there are far too many on the forums that are affiliated with TD
2. I do apprecialte alot of the links provided on some of the issues going on. No i do not like an entire article copy/pasted, i will not read it here,i go to the source(whatever it is) to read.
3.I do not like the name calling, lefty. neocon, etc.etc.There is far too much of this going on when someone does not agree with anothers response.
4.I agree there is alot of national news on here and very little local. OUR COUNTRY IS ENGAGED ON A WAR. This is the very reason tensions are high, people are worried, distraught, emotions are running rampant. So of course national news will be in the forefront. Possibly seperate and have a local news and national/world news forums. Bet I can guess which will have more traffic, because it is WHAT IS ON PEOPLES MINDS MORE.
5. i think newbies should be a bit more respectful and cool it with the insults being thrown around by some(no not all).
6.Thank you traderconnections for getting the food forums, I am already enjoying it being there!
