Hi to my Forum Friends,

Have you noticed the article in today's TimesDaily about the horrible teacher who did not stop a parent homeroom helper from putting Bibles in the Christmas stocking at the school's Christmas party? I wonder if ANYTHING would have been said if that had been Darwin's "Origin Of The Species" instead of a Bible?

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this article is: Why is it that we never have heard of a "Freedom From Evolution" or a "Freedom From Darwin" or a "Freedom From Atheism" organization or any other similar organization? There are all sorts of Anti-Christian organizations: "Freedom From Religion" -- "Separation Of Church And State" -- "Anti Christian Losers & Unfits (ACLU)", and many others; but, for some reason there seems to be no Christian organizations formed to fight against the childishness and lunacy of the atheist/secularist/evolutionist fringe groups.

Do you know why? Because our Father is bigger than their father!

The atheists/secularists/evolutionists are aware that all of their supposed LAWS of evolutionary science -- are really just theories and postulations, flights of fancy. And, they know that if any school is ever allowed to stand the Christian Bible against Darwin's "Origin Of The Species" and allow the students to make an unbiased, non-coerced choice -- the students would overwhelmingly believe the Bible. Just the thought of this makes our atheist/secularist/evolutionist Friends wet their pants.

While we in the Christian community recognize evolution for the flight of fantasy it truly is; those in the Anti-God groups know that the Bible and our faith is built upon a Rock, even if they will not acknowledge Him -- and it scares them to death.

Yesterday evening, my family and I attended the ceremony at my grandson's school to celebrate the Fifth Grade students graduating into Middle School. The evening was opened with a prayer; we sang Christian songs; as each student received his/her certificate, the teacher spoke a few words about the student and gave a Scripture verse relating to that student's personality; then we closed in prayer. What a wonderful evening.

Yet, none of this could have happened in a Government Run Public School -- for the Far Left Liberal team would have been whimpering, salivating, jumping up and down, and threatening a law suit.

Maybe it is time we gave the Government Run Public Schools over to the Anti-God Groups, put Christian children in Christian schools -- and see how long the Government Run Public Schools will last after this total "Brain Drain."

This article shows the desperation flowing through the Anti-God Groups:

FREEDOM FROM RELIGION GROUP FILES COMPLAINT AGAINST TEACHER

By Lisa Singleton-Rickman, Staff Writer

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has filed a complaint against a Florence elementary teacher for giving Bibles to her students during a school Christmas party in mid-December.

The complaint from the group’s attorney, Rebecca Markert, was submitted Friday on behalf of a parent who complained Debbie Reynolds, a fourth grade teacher at Forest Hills Elementary School, put the Bibles in a stocking for each child. She stated in the complaint that the action was a federal violation because distribution of religious material at a public school is prohibited.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a non-profit organization since 1978 citing itself as the nation’s largest representation of atheists and agnostics promoting separation of church and state.

The Foundation did not release the complainant’s name, nor do school officials know who made the complaint.

Reynolds, a 20-year teacher, said no one made a complaint to her, to Principal Anne Gipson, or any administrator in the school district.

She said she understands the prohibition of such actions and did not put the Bibles in the children’s party goody bags, but admitted she didn’t stop the homeroom parent helpers from doing so.

Heh. Of course they (Only in Alabama, AFAIK..) aren't allowed to stand creationism up against evolution. A LOT of collection plates might get emptier after that.

Of COURSE they'd choose the bible. It's ALL THEY KNOW! They've been spoonfed it since birth.
That's how effective cults keep their members in line and paying.
That's OK Bill. Anybody with an ounce of intelligence already knows that BS (x2) is still BS.

And whaddyamean "No Freedom From Darwin" group?!? The whole STATE is such a group, for the most part, isn't it?

Actually I have this neat recurring dream of Fundies actually learning stuff other than their cult propaganda. But then I wake up and it's still SS/DD. I already told you-I had no idea who Dawkins is/was until I heard you mention him/her. I still don't really.
Unlike you, apparently-I am capable of original thoughts.
I just know what makes sense to me-and Bubba, you ain't it.

they are called churchs and religous fanatics.
they are responsible for putting the bibles in those stockings.
they do fun, kooky things like killing a doctor who works at an abortion clinic, because abortions are wrong.

i have no problem with religion being banned from schools, because i want to be the one who teach my children about god and faith, and not some whack job.

Face it bill.. if you had school age children, would you be happy with Me teaching them about God, Christ, and the bible? probably you'd be even less happy than i would be if you were teaching mine.

and i wouldn't have had a problem if they had given my kids Darwin's book. or the Koran. or even the book of morman or L. Ron Hubbards Dianetics, where the idea of scientoligy comes from. i've read it. it's a riot.

i don't want my kids mind closed and unthinking.

i like the idea of freedom of religion. religion kills.
Faith Saves Smiler
Bamagirl, if you were refering to me, please read it again.

i was calling the religious fanatics and fundies whack jobs, not the teacher. my kids went to forest hills, but never had her, so i don't know anything about her.

i do know a bit about bill grey, and he is, in my opinion, a religious whack-job, and i wouldn't want him teaching my kids.

i'm sorry i made you think i was maligning Mrs. Reynolds. i was not.

Umm, there is. It's called "church."

Do you wonder why there isn't a group to fight heliocentrism (a sun-centered solar system)? After all, that "theory" is against biblical teaching, too.

Hi Nagel,

The main problem I would have with you teaching anything in school -- is that I am not sure which god, or gods, you would be teaching.

But, let young people understand both God and Darwin -- and there is no doubt that most would choose God. But, not your gods.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Hi Deep,

Around here -- would of course be Hollywood (or whichever adjacent city) -- right?

Or have you really moved back home. Not Moulton, right?

Deep, my Friend, you have to be a wee bit more explicit.

And speak for yourself dummy. We all are not science-fearing dolts. Visit an Episcopal church sometime Bill. It's good for your soul . . . and your brain.

Hi Sofa,

You misread my post. I said, "We in the CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY" -- not the "We who want to rewrite the Bible to fit our lifestyle" community.

My Friend, you must be a wee bit more attentive when you read.

Bill,

As sofa and others have already told you, the answer to your question is "church." You have the right to attend the meetings and worship your god till your hearts content. You can go to your grandson's school functions full of bible stories and ritual prayers. No one is trying to stop you. I certainly am not,

I feel that things are right on target for religion to die out as so many other primitive beliefs have over time. Eventually the masses will have outgrown beliefs in magic characters that see every move we make and are constantly judging our every thought, action or deed, right or wrong. The only thing we have to do is keep teaching children to think logically and reason out problems through science. I was given both and I saw the truth. I am sure that with time and more generations the numbers will favor non-religious/scientific beliefs over religion based beliefs.

No one is going to force the issue. No one has too. All we have to do is present the truth and evidence that is known to be facts now and let them decide for themselves. You go right ahead and worship all you want. Teach it to whom ever wants to listen to it and hold VBS and weekly meetings open to all that want to come. Just stay out of the public school system and we will win in the end.

It will take time, I may not even see it in my life time, but it will happen. We will not regress as humans (we never have) and as time goes on and we learn more and more about who and what we are, we will let go of the old ways of religion and move on to other beliefs. Who knows what we will find. I get very excited just thinking about all the possibilities and what answers are still awaiting us.

I bless you, have a nice day. Smiler
Hi Jan,

It is so sad. Atheists and secularist have been trying to tell folks that "God is dead!" for hundreds of years. Yet, He is alive and well -- and the Christian church is stronger than ever.

One day, I pray that your spiritual eyes are opened. And, I pray that this happens while there is still time for you get your reservations on the Glory Train and join us for an eternal stroll in heaven.

My Friend, you will be eternally happy if you do.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

It seems to me that Mr. Gray is presenting the truth. You can either accept it or walk away. Our God gives you that choice. It's your choice and "me" attitude that keeps you from having a true, personal relationship with Christ. Believe your "science" all you want, but that science won't save you as you reach for it in your last days. It's quite unfortunate and sad.

It's your science as well. Among other much more important things, it's what's allowing you to communicate on this forum. Science has also saved your life countless times and it did so without you having to pray to it.

Hi Robust,

True, science is a great tool. It is one of the greatest tools God has given us. But, we must keep it in perspective -- God created the sciences -- the sciences did not create God.

When "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1) -- science was a part of that Creation. Thus science is a subset of Creation. And, the created can never be greater than the Creator.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Hi Robust,

He had no need to fully explain the sciences in His Bible; for it is not a science book.

The Bible has two purposes: To point us toward salvation -- and to be our guidebook for our Christian walk in this life. In this, it is perfect.

Robust, please explain to us how man created the sciences. Did man hang the universe? Did man construct earth at the precise distance from the sun to allow life on earth? Did man hang the earth in space at the precise distance from the sun, with the precise angle of tilt to provide our seasons, and hang the moon in rotation with earth, to give us day and night?

Did man plant the forests and all other foliage -- and create photosynthesis to allow those plants and trees to absorb energy from the sun and turn this into oxygen to keep us alive?

No, Robust, man did not create science, man did not create God. We are the created; He is the Creator. And, all around us we have living testimony that this is true.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

This whole thing is yet another case of over-sensitive self righteous whacka-do's trying to make a big deal out of nothing. If your a christian then read the bible you where given, forgive those you disagree with, and be quiet. If your an athiest then throw the bible away, eat your candy and shut up. Why file a lawsuit over something this stupid, it only shows the weakness of your own beliefs and convictions. Religion or athieism is no replacement for common sense, compassion and kindness.

Bingo! This is the first time I have seen signs of intelligence from you, Bill!

Hi Sofa,

My Friend, you are determined to prove God wrong -- aren't you? Have you also tried spitting into the wind today?

Alexander Graham Bell created, or invented, the telephone. When he announced it -- did he tell the world HOW it worked -- or that it DID INDEED work? And, everyone believed him enough that today virtually everyone owns a telephone.

God has told us that "In the beginnging God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1) which is good enough for me. He does not have to tell me, in minute details, how He made all the sciences and the laws governing the sciences -- for me to believe that He hung the earth in the sky and all the stars and planets -- and fine tuned them to allow life on earth.

When you get into an airplane, do you first demand to know all the aerodynamic and other engineering details -- before you will fly on that plane? Or, do you just get on that plane, sit down, and enjoy the flight -- THROUGH FAITH?

But, Sofa, if you want to continue worshiping your gods of science, space aliens, or whatever, that is your business. You might even join the Hindus and worship cows, elephants, and frogs. Whatever turns your engine.

But, as Joshua said, in Joshua 24:15, "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

You have your gods; we Christians have our LORD. And, every day I thank Him that He has adopted me as a child of God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ.

As his older brother in the old television commercial used to tell Mikey about the new cereal, "Try it, you will like it!"

My Friend, I offer you the same advise about my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, "Try Him, you will like Him!"

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Human beings created the scientific method and proofs to begin to truly understand the world without having to resort to conjured fairy tales.

Any omniscient, omnipotent deity worth a **** should be able to write a book that explains everything to all people without errors, contradictions and with perfect clarity. It's not asking for much to expect a little brilliant math and science from the creator in text form. If that's not the bible's "purpose" ok fine, but it still does quite a poor job of achieving the purposes you've ascribed to it and it's certainly as far from perfect as one can conjure. It's simply a poorly written "guidebook" to say the least. Google maps is a much clearer and quicker guide to get to one's destination. Considering your god created everything, he must have skimped on the editor because His guidebook is chock full of contradictory and foolish gibberish. It reads like it was cobbled together by know-nothing ancients grasping for answers. If you think the bible is leading you to your "salvation" then well, you're entitled to follow it to the best of your ability. But I still think a "perfect" guidebook by the creator of everything should be so much more impressive. Maybe your definition of perfect is less demanding than mine, but it shouldn't be considering that anything capable of creating the universe and it contents should more than easily hold up to such minor scrutiny.
Hi Robust,

Do you need the complete details of the design of your car, all the minute engineering secrets -- before you will get in your car and drive to work? Or, do you just rely upon the manufacturer's User's Manual for the useful facts you need, such as type of gas, tire air pressure, etc., which allow you to drive safely?

If you are taking a trip -- do you demand all the minute engineering details about the plane before you will fly -- or do you fly on faith?

God did not need to tell us all the details about how He created the heavens and the earth. All He needed to do was to give us His plan for our salvation and a guideline for Christian living. This, the Bible does very well.

As I need more information; He has always revealed to me what I needed to know -- when I needed the information. And, most often He has done this through His Written Word, the Bible.

Something to consider; if you have trouble understanding and gaining spiritual understanding and revelations from the Bible -- maybe the fault is in you. It could be that your spiritual eyes are blind and like the blind man trying to understand a sunset; you cannot comprehend what people are telling you about the sunset; for you have never seen one before.

And, having never possessed spiritual discernment; you cannot understand the spiritual aspects of the Bible and Christianity.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

In other words, A. It's kinda like Apple/Macintosh computers. "You don't need to know the ingredients-We're not too sure what they are, either", B. "We can't help the way it tastes", and C. "Kindly drag your empties to the trash when you're done with them." Big Grin

Yeah, I'd like to know if that big iron bird has been maintained well for one thing. It would also bug me out to find out, oh, say..Bobcat Goldthwaite was driving it. Yeah, I wanna know this stuff cause it's awful hard to remember all the words to those prayers while trying to look for a lake to land in at 11,000 feet while traveling briskly toward the ground at terminal velocity, KnowhutImean, Vern?

Something to consider; if you have trouble understanding and gaining spiritual understanding and revelations from the Bible -- maybe the fault is in you. It could be that your spiritual eyes are blind and like the blind man trying to understand a sunset; you cannot comprehend what people are telling you about the sunset; for you have never seen one before.

And, having never possessed spiritual discernment; you cannot understand the spiritual aspects of the Bible and Christianity.

Oh! So it's kinda like the Harley Davidson snobs! "If you hafta ask, You wouldn't understand."

Hi Puppy,

Long before you came on the Religions Forum, there were atheists who were coining "cutesy" sayings when they could not give an intelligent answer.

So, in this respect -- you are still a baby in diapers. And, your "cutesy" comments are not even in the same class with theirs.

Sorry, my Friend, it's back to the Pablum for you.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
