The Times daily continues its regrettable abuse of the Mother Tongue on the front page! In an article about a local upper-crust lowlife arrested on charges of child pornography, the TD reports:

"After obtaining a warrant from Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly, the computer was taken to forensic experts in Huntsville and they determined the downloaded images were of children engaging in sexual acts."

And, in obtaining this warant, just what did this computer say to the District Attorney or--more likely--to the judge--who issued the warrant?

Now, for those of you whose standard response to posts involving issues of English usage is ridicule and unconcern, and who might still be trying to figure out just what the problem is, I provide below a rendering of the subject matter in correct form:

"After law enforcement authorities obtained a warrant from Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly, they seized the computer and took it to forensic experts in Huntsville, who determined that the downloaded images were of children engaging in sexual acts."

Do you see it now, GoFish and others of the gramatically-challenged sector? If the error is not plain to you yet, please advise and I will provide an explanation at the remedial English level.

OH, the error is VERY plain. We are so gramatically-challenged that you, being the grammar police, should swear out a warant for our arrest.

You are correct, Ms. Hypodermic! Warrants issue from the bench, as I had implied:

"And, in obtaining this warrant, just what did this computer say to the District Attorney or--more likely--to the judge--who issued the warrant?"

The TD is no more in tune to established due process arrangements than it is to correct grammar.

Thank you for caring so much about helping me with these matters. Would that you had equal concern for what is published for the masses after some supposed editorial review and quality control!

Do not trouble GoFish and his fellow travellers on that. They would be content that the word "Cedar" appears in both places. That is not "close enough for government work," but it IS close enough for those on this forum who would excuse just about any error in the Times Dorky!

BeternU,

I really didn't want to do this but, if you insist.

TD version

And did anybody notice that the fraudulent Mr. French has committed a flagrant abuse of internet etiquette? It is strictly a breach of the most rudimentary standards of civil discourse on forums, chat rooms, etc. to assume the identity of another participant, even in attempted humor, but that probably will not matter to the cheap-shot, one-liner crowd!

Man, you are just loads of fun. You pick on people who "mispell" yet you can't spell "misspell."

You pick on "gramatically" challenged newspaper but can not spell "grammatically" so save your life, or at least save face. Relly, dimwad, you are a boatload of fun!

The newpapper made it abundantly clear what happened: A warrant was sworn and the computer was taken to H'ville.

I'm curious: Is the perpetrator a "close friend" of yours, Mr. Odiousity? Why you be so bent outta shape about a meaningless grammatical mistake? Enquiring minds wanna know!

. . . I think I just realized something here: You really don't see the irony of almost all of your stupid statements, do you? Your love for yourself is such that your are completely blinded to your own faults.

Is there a psychologist in the house? I'm sure this galaxy of symptoms has a medical name.

CAN WE SAVE THIS MAN FROM HIMSELF!

. . . Or just keep him around for entertainment?

It is called Megalomania!
This was thoroughly entertaining. Big Grin

*round of applause*

BeternU, maybe calling the paper would be a better idea, than posting it here, because it's obvious that most of us don't put the same, um, "energy", that you put into this kind of thing.

Besides that, I get the inkling from many years reading several different stories on another place, that you are doing this on purpose. You do this to get a rise out of people. I think you misspell words in your "complaint" also on purpose because you really don't have much else to do in the meantime.

I find it a little sad, but hey, I won't be riled up about it either. It really takes a lot to honestly rile me up. I do very much so enjoy the banter that you get right back though.

I know you find joy in it, just by your "arguments" that it's clearly more of a joke to you than a "really" serious obsession. At least that's what I get out of reading your posts here.

Most people might not pick up on that, I do. xD

So, when you get what you give, I find no reason to be someone that normally would ask people to stop. Enjoy yourself, but don't be suprised if Eventually people get bored of it, then you'll have to find a new rant to go on about. xD

ANYONE want some popcorn in the meantime? xD

~Amanda
Hey Amanda come over for the next Clowncil meeting and we'll have popcorn and cokes -- I'm sure he'll be addressing the council for some reason or other and using such big words that English professors have to look up the meaning to even fathom what the heck he is rambling about again....It's about as bad as his rants on this forum...
