GOD KNOWS THIS AREA NEEDS JOBS. I THINK THAT IS WHAT WE WERE PROMISED TWO YEARS AGO WHEN WE ELECTED ALMOST ENTIRELY NEW CITY GOVTS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MSC. BUT THE ARTICLE IN TODAYS PAPER ON FUNDING INCENTIVES IS JUST THE STRAW THAT BROKE MY CHECKING ACCOUNT'S BACK. WHAT IS SEDA FOR? WHAT HAS FORREST WRIGHT DONE? GOT WALGREENS CALL CENTER (YEAH IF YOU CAN LIVE ON 8.00 AN HOUR) AND GAVE THEM 2 MILLION DOLLARS TO COME HERE! WHAT ELSE? WELL NORTH AMERICAN LIGHTING MAY BE A GOOD DEAL: WHO KNOWS? BUT WHAT DO WE EVEN HAVE SEDA FOR? THIS ORGANIZATION HAS HAD 20 YES 20 YEARS TO GET JOBS TO THIS AREA AND THIS IS WHAT THEY PRODUCE? AND THE PATENTED ANSWER IS WE NEED TO BRIBE COMPANIES? WELL A SMALL START WOULD BE FORREST WRIGHT AND THE SEDA STAFFS SALARY? I CAN'T AFFORD MORE TAXES (THANKS TO THE GAS TAX FOR RSA) OR THE PROPERTY TAX FROM THE GOVERNOR. TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND PEOPLE: MAKING THE CITIZENS OF THIS AREA SUFFER TO GET INDUSTRY IS NOT THE RIGHT PATH? HOW MANY TITLE LOAN AND PAYDAY LOAN PLACES ARE THERE IN THIS 4 TOWN REGION? HAS ANYONE EVER DONE AN INCOME TO DEBT STUDY FOR THIS AREA? MOST PEOPLE ARE LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK WITH PLASTIC AND PAYDAY LOANS AND THE LAST THING THAT IS NEEDED IS INCENTIVES FOR INDUSTRY IF HANDLED BY FORREST WRIGHT AND COMPANY.

I could not agree with you more. I am sick and tired of this tax paying for the golf course that I or any of my family will ever use. It brought nothing to this area. And we let that idiot bail out Wise Alloys? I think the salary of all those at the SEDA can go for an incentive. None of them are doing a worthy job anyway. Why should the taxpayers or residents have to pay for money to line the pockets of those business owners? They should want to come here not be bought off to come here. I am sure that once the gas tax finally pays for that #$% golf course that they will not stop it being added on to each gallon of gas bought.
Boo Hoo....Poor Wise Alloys....NOT!

I want to know why Wise Alloys has reneged on the promises it made to folks like my father who were offered and took the full retirement packages when Wise bought out Reynolds. My father and many more like him were promised free health insurance coverage for life but suddenly, without warning, my father's retirement checks are now $300 short because Wise is now charging him for health insurance coverage. This is a 70 year old man who has survived lung cancer due to asbestosis he contracted while working at that plant and now something underhanded and dirty like this is done to him by this company. I'm sure he isn't the only one in the Shoals but nobody seems to be broadcasting this. I'm sure Wise definitely wants it hushed up. Wise should take some of their new found wealth from RSA and pay off on their promises and stop charging my father and others like him for the FREE health insurance coverage they were promised.

If this is the way Wise does business, they deserve whatever happens to them and I'm not surprised they are having difficulties. What goes around, comes around.
Although, I'm sure the executives of the company, like CEO David D'Addario and CFO Ken Stastny, aren't hurting in the least. They'll still get their fat bonuses and stock options while people like my father struggle to make ends meet on increasingly smaller retirement checks.
It's the "classic" rich get richer, and the poor get poorer story.

American jurisprudence should be so graced to create precedent through stockholder class action to play Robin Hood.

In part, that's one reason why I strongly believe that unions should be significant stockholders in corporations where they have a presence.

Imagine what things would be like at General Motors if UAW were to negotiate with Kirk Kerkorian!

Talk about parity!
