Kool-Aid drinker is a pejorative term to describe those who blindly follow, and buy into, the worldview of others. Often used in the corporate world to describe employees who religiously follow the corporate 'Mission Statement', etc. They have "Drunk the Kool Aid."
The term (in this current usage) derives from the 1978 mass suicide at Jonestown, northwestern Guyana, wherein Peoples Temple cult leader Jim Jones ordered that his followers commit suicide by drinking grape Flavor Aid (a drink alike to Kool-Aid, but less well known) laced with potassium cyanide. About 913 people died in the incident, many and perhaps most of them because they followed the order to drink. This saying, "Don't drink the kool-aid," is akin.
