My grandmother loved to watch him on 'Different Stroke". She loved to watch "her little boy".
I think he had a hard time coming to grips with being that little boy on Different Strokes also.
Here was someone that should have had it made but according to what I have heard really had a miserable life trying to overcome that stigma of that one show and trying to have a normal life. Then look at the difficulties of some of the folks highlighted on the "Reality Shows".
I guess there is good and bad that comes with a celebrity life, depending on who you are. I know he had other health issues but 42 is a short life for most.

Sad...in the ups and downs of life, Gary Coleman had many more downs than ups...
I think it's true he had a hard time seperating himself from that show and that character long after the show was cancelled. I hadn't realized he had so many health problems throughout his life till reading about it recently.
RIP he was a great child actor
