Whenever someone even hints at a 'crisis in the Mid-East', gas prices immediately 'go through the roof'. But let Mid-East oil prices crash through the floor in o day's time, and ONLY ONE gasoline purveyor immediately drops their prices in accordance. For now, Love's Truck Stop has my business: $1.89/gal!

This is a valid observation though, and sadly, a part of living in today's times.  Just the hint of bad news at times is a reason for fuel stations to immediately jack up their prices even though the fuel in their tanks was purchased and paid for before any increase (or decrease) actually happens as the result of some world event.  You can set your clock by the fact that prices jump up but never does it seem that they go the other direction (that is a reduction in price).  Oil, by the barrel, may drop but only will you see that drop when competing stations drop their prices and start siphoning business away.  It's frustrating, at times, but just a part of life in today's world.  I'm just glad we're not talking about $4.00 a gallon fuel today but then given the regulations and restrictions in California some folks out there may be talking $4.00 depending on the grade of fuel they purchase.   Here is a link to a site to sample gas prices for the 50 states.  No surprise that states with the highest regulations and restrictions have the highest prices.  You can understand higher prices in Alaska or Hawaii but just like many other categories, California invites the higher prices and cost based upon their politicians placing burdensome restrictions, taxes, and regulations on each industry.
