Reduce dependency on foreign oil by creating our own energy here at home. It creates jobs and saves us money. We can't do that when the largest taxpayer in America is Exxon oil. And Exxon is only responsible for 2% of the 185 million barrels of oil drilled daily.

We need wind turbines, solar energy, and for pete's sake affordable electric vehicles.

We could reduce America's dependency on oil by 25 - 40 percent over the next 4 years if the government would STOP blocking everything being proposed.

They have meetings with energy experts then ignore everything the experts say.

The change will have to start with us (as it should) because our government has too great an interest in oil to make any changes.

Ride a bike sometimes, walk sometimes, car pool sometimes, seems small but if we ALL did it, we can certainly start to make an impact.

Just my opinion for what it's worth.
Because of conservation and more efficient engines, the US is back to providing 40 percent of its own oil and on track for 50 percent by 2012.

The rest of the oil must be bought on the world market at the speculative prices you've been seeing or less for the heavy, sulfur crude from Venezuela and Iran. US oil companies have to pass the higher costs of procurement or production on or go out of business.

Who wants to see PEMEX or ARAMCO stations all over the US?

If oil companies are having to pay higher cost then shouldn,t profits remain the same if prices are raised to cover those costs? The answer is yes. I don't think that oil companies are worried about going out of business with record multi-billion dollar profit every quarter!!!!

Actually , all oil, whether pumped domestically or bought from Arabs is priced on the world market price.
I notice a lot of people seem to think that if we produce more oil here, it will make a big difference at the pump. What they fail to recognize is that oil is sold on the WORLD market at world market prices. For example, oil from Alaska is sold to Japan and other Asian countries .
The only way domestic oil production will reduce the price is if there is so much produced , that it could flood the market (so to speak) and drive down the world price.
We ain't gonna be paying less at the pumps even if we produce 100% of our own oil. May as well get over it and accept that we will be paying more and more for gasoline until it reaches a price that we no longer will pay for it.
