Gas Stations that have or had good food

RKM in North Courtland (IP road)

Arnold's at 43, Alt. 72, 157 highways and Stan's at Columbia, TN.

Haddock's on Savannah Hwy has great pies.

Gas station at the corner of 43 and 72..... I am thinking it is a citgo.....but not sure......food is great though..... they even have plate lunches...... or did back last summer.....

Go back 20yrs to The Dam Store (south end of Wheeler Dam) served some good grub to go!

Macy's Market on Darby Drive. Used to have good lunch plates. Changed hands several times since then but I used to love to eat there.

Ahhh....Macy's Market. I had forgotten about that place!

I also love the (Citgo) I think on Cox Creek near either Helton or Chisholm. (It has since closed down.) Man....you could go in there even late into the night and get good, fresh chicken fingers, fries, & a 20oz mountain dew for under $5!

A meal from a gas station usually means a bag of cheetohs or a stick of beef jerky, since I am always with my kids....

but my parents had their first meal as a married couple at "Snodgrass's Grade-A ESSO Cafe." They had fried chicken. It's not there anymore, alas--that was in 1952 on a back road in Kentucky.

the BP in Rogersville used to have some killer chicken and biscuits, not sure if they still do because i haven't been there in a while. Tyrone would get the first batch ready around 2:00 am and after a long night of hanging out they made for an awesome late night early morning snack. of course they were good anytime of the day.

Macys Market was as good as most restaurants

Think it was called compac on Pine St. (where little steve's is) They had the best steamed /heated subs. Lived off them in the 80s.

I love the chicken gizzards at BP in Rogersville. I used to get a dollars worth for lunch. It was alot.

The restaurant attached to the Kangaroo Mart on Cox Creek and the road that goes to St. Florian has one of the best Reubin sandwiches. It takes a while to get it. You should go in and order, then go pump gas, buy smokes and a coke, go to the rest room (wash hands) and it probably still won't be done. But soon it will and you will be amazed! They also serve it with homemade thick potato chips

Outpost 72 has the most AWESOME "smoked chicken salad"! get there early or they will run out!

Yeah, I think it's Citgo but not totally sure. My aunt told me about their food and I decided to try it. It was good the handfull of times I've eaten there. They don't mind custom orders either.

Quik Mart corner of 133 and 72 Muscle Shoals has great food still today.

The reason you have to wait at the Kangaroo (Lock, Stock & Barrel) is because everything is cooked fresh when you order it. It is definately worth the wait for fresh food!

I agree with mentalfloss, the compac on Pine st. back in the 80's had the best subs around.

I must be a food snob. The only food I would eat from a gas station was packaged before it got there. That limits me to potato chips and ice cream sandwiches.

Stan's in Columbia. That's the place. I make a special trip just to eat there.

Quick Mart at 72/43 in Tuscumbia...Killer Biscuits with chicken, smoke sausage, baloney, sausages, bacon, steak, ham, porkchop...then we move into their chef salads,grill chicken salads loaded...that sucker will be so heavy you will need help just getting it to the car...and good..I better give that a big G for GOOD...
Hamburgers, cheese burgers, hot dogs...ham sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, grilled baloney sandwiches, and some I have even forgotten about...and the fries...my lord...big, crispy and golden brown dripping with hot grease in the paper bag...

If you want yo grandmomma breakfast don't stop no where else until you get there......cause that is the place you been looking for...Special orders no problem...Oh! they have one at second street and Woodmont in Muscle Shoals but don't even stop there...they got teenage girls who can't boil water at that place...now the real cooks are waiting for ya there.

I love the one on three mile road...steak egg and cheese biscuits are the way to go

i like the food at the shell on the corner of 43 and 72 , its awesome and very cheap, i can feed me and my daughter for under 5 bucks and am very satisfied she is 14 so she can eat too

Quick Mart in Elgin on corner of 72/101 has large selection and good food.
