The general, whose multiple e-mails with Tampa social climber Jill Kelley, have sparked national interest and an investigation by the Pentagon, might reconsider his nomination to become Supreme Allied Commander of NATO.  The investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing that would disqualify him from high-level sensitive positions in the U.S. military, but might not have cleared him of potential embarrassment should there be public scrutiny that discloses some of the details of those "friendly" e-mails.

The general would have done well to have followed the homespun advice of that noted philosopher, Satchel Paige, whose list of rules for a happy life included:  "Avoid the social ramble; it ain't restful."
