 — A suburban St. Louis police chief on Friday identified the officer whose fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager ignited days of heated protests, and released documents alleging the teen was killed after a robbery in which he was suspected of stealing a $48.99 box of cigars.

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson released several police reports and documents during a news conference where he also identified the officer involved as Darren Wilson, who has been on administrative leave since the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9.

According to the police reports, Brown and his friend, Dorian Johnson, were suspected of taking a box of cigars from a store in Ferguson that morning. Jackson said Wilson, along with other officers, was called to the area after a 911 call reporting a “strong-arm” robbery just before noon. He said a dispatcher gave a description of the robbery suspect, and Wilson, who had been assisting on another call, was sent to investigate.

Well, the Left will say it was a White-African who shot the guy. It was George Zimmerman in disguise. It was George Bush that caused it by not giving people free cigars. Mr. Brown was not responsible for his actions as he was discriminated against by the store clerk who racial profiled him. See I can jump to conclusions as fast as Al Sharpton or any other race baiter.

I'm sure there there are childhood pictures of Hitler, Manson, Bundy, ect that look adorable and innocent.  Not sure why these people believe a throw back picture can somehow make us believe that a now very large grown man strong arming a diminutive store clerk is still the same kid.  It's unbelievable how these people try to distort reality into something it clearly not.

Crash, the strong arm robbery shows the true character of this man and those he runs around with.  Based on reports of who was actually present at the shooting, it's going to boil down to who do you believe, the cop or the thug and his thug friend?

The media caused this situation.  They made it sound from the start like a kid was shot for having a walmart bb gun.  If anybody else dies from this, the media will have blood on its hands.

Seems the lawyers and family didn't like the release of the video, but had no problem pushing for the release of the officer's name.

Excerpts:

Another family attorney, Benjamin Crump, said police "are choosing to disseminate information that is very strategic to try to help them justify the execution-style" killing

Family attorney Daryl Parks acknowledged that the man shown in the surveillance footage "appears to be" Brown. But he and others said Brown's family was blindsided by the allegations and release of the footage.

The surveillance video appears to show a man wearing a ball cap, shorts and white T-shirt grabbing a much shorter man by his shirt near the store's door. A police report alleges that Brown grabbed the man who had come from behind the store counter and "forcefully pushed him back" into a display rack.

Police said they found evidence of the stolen merchandise on Brown's body.

Brown's family and supporters had been pushing for release of the officer's name. Wilson is a six-year police veteran — two in neighboring Jennings and four in Ferguson — and had no previous complaints filed against him, Jackson said.

___

The police department has acknowledged that the officer did have some information the strong arm cigar theft.

Now the family of the "gentle giant", together with their loquacious lawyer, are saying that the release of the convenience store video of his hostile actions amounts to "character assassination."

So, then, it is all right for Brown's family and his boon companions in the hood to publicly--and at considerable length--sing his praises as a "gentle giant" and someone who cared so much about others, but it is "character assassination" to release a video that depicts his actual delinquent behavior a few minutes before the incident that threw him in the limelight?!

Go figure.

What I can't believe is that with all the "eyewitnesses", none of them turned on their video camera on their phone and recorded the event.

Kinda' unbelievable in my mind.

This story is still unfolding, and the media are going to push whatever story they believe will boost their audience the most.  Let the circus begin.

Yes crusty, I wonder about that too. That and a few other things. The officer had injuries to his face, and there were witness statements at the beginning that say brown was half way inside the police car punching the officer, but now I don't see any of those reports. It just goes from the police stopping the two kids to the officer shooting brown. This is another mess where the truth will never be known. We can speculate, run scenarios, listen to they said and they said, and we will most likely never know the truth. Something made the officer shoot him. What was it? There are thousands of incidents across the country every day, and cops don't shoot and kill the 'suspects' or law breakers even though they run or fight like wildcats. There are cops gunned down for no reason except for stopping the wrong person. There's never any outrage or riots. A black police officer, out of uniform, off duty and just happened to be in the auto supply store, shot and killed an unarmed white man who had done nothing criminal but get loud and belligerent, and who was trying to leave the scene.  The officer knew that the auto shop owner had already called the police and they were on their way. The man was sitting in his truck when he was killed. No injuries to the officer, and after the shooting there was no 24-7 news coverage, no riots, no looting, that I ever saw or heard of.

No way I would be a LEO in today's atmosphere where you are railroaded by the media.   Also, all CCW carriers better believe if you had to defend yourself the same thing will happen to you, pray for it to be recorded.  Someone would have to believe that the police officer just wanted to shoot a black young adult for no reason!!! YGTBSM!!  Yes it is sad the young adult was killed but allow the truth to come out and then pass judgement.  I have been shaking my head all day after watching the bozo medical examiner hired by the family give his press conference and the media miss-characterizations of it.

Very likely somebody took video of this on their Obama phone. Very unlikely it will ever surface.

I totally agree with you.  I almost went into law enforcement when I was in my 20's.  Glad I went in a different direction now, could not imagine having to deal with a bunch of weasly thugs and their kin folk everyday.

The looters and liers in Ferguson are the same type people who fight against laws like "stand your ground".  Enough said.

All the complaining about releasing the video and information about Brown being wanted for a robbery and having drugs in his system is crazy.  The information should be know because it puts things in perspective i.e. he is not the alter boy portrayed.  As I have said all along gather all the information then make a decision.

Agreed.  When only part of the current  information concerning a person's character and behavior is provided, it produces a lopsided depiction.  Of COURSE, Brown's mother would praise him to the skies and portray him as a model young gentleman--a "gentle giant".  That is what mothers do.

Ever see an account of the mother of someone who has been nailed in a crime say something like this:

"I knew that boy was heading for trouble.  He has been nothing but grief to me, his daddy, his teachers and everyone else.  Maybe he just needs jail time to straighten himself out!"
