Hey Blues, I still remember George visiting Peanut Mongemery on when I lived on Rosevelt street in Florence when I was a kid. I think Peanut lives in Sheffield now though.

The Shoals is soo rich in music, most people don't even realize it.

Good stuff!
She sounds great! Way to go, Georgette!

I hung out with Georgette occasionally when we were kids. One of my best friends was a member of Wynette's (Tammy's) family. So when she came home, Georgette would sometimes come with her. She was a couple of years younger than us.

She ended up dating and I think(?) marrying & divorcing a boy who graduated a year before me. Another of my friends had dated him & I didn't think much of him at the time. I hope he grew out of some of his ways, but at the time I hated to hear that was her choice.

I didn't know Georgette well. Two years difference in age is a bigger deal when you are kids. She seemed nice enough and I was sad for her. I'm glad to hear she's happy now and that she and her dad have a relationship.

I obviously never thought of any of them as famous. They were my friend's family. At the time, I didn't listen to country music either. So I really had no idea that Wynette (Tammy) was a big deal. Wynette was very down to earth and much like her cousin, my friend's mom. I liked her.

I remember not caring too much for one of Wynette's husbands. He seemed to think a lot of himself. Smiler I think his first or last name was George, too, but not George Jones.
I looked it up...George Richey & she stayed married to him until her death. Oh well. I guess if she loved him & stayed with him, he must have been alright after all. Smiler

I really hope Georgette is successful with her singing. Her voice is great. You'd think it'd be easier for the child of two legends to make it in the music business, but I bet the opposite is the case with Georgette?

No surprise there.

I listened and it had that old classic George sound to it.

It's REAL country music...not the BS commercial crap everybody with connections and a buck seem to be putting out these days.

Three cheers to George (and Georgette) for continuing to "Stand By His....Principles"
