have they ever updated the decor at george's? we have been there a few times (several years ago) but my memory is that the whole restaurant was painted a dull gray or beige and the seating was in sort of little cubicles which were partitioned off. i remember when we moved here in 1982 we were told about dale's and george's being "the" restaurants in the area. went to dale's where it was so dark you could not see. waiters delivered sour cream and butter from a large bowl at your table by spooning out a portion onto your plate. hmmmmm. seemed a little unsophisticated. i realize dale's does not do that now and the food is pretty good. love the homemade bread sticks/pieces! and the appetizers are wonderful. just haven't been back to george's. someone describe how it is now?
Well, wait just a cotton pickin' minute... Oh, y'all are talking about the restaurant George's.

I love their feta and Greek meatballs. The Greek tray is awesome and their homemade blue cheese dressing is the best in town. I've never had a steak there that wasn't cooked to perfection and the wait staff is friendly and attentive.
I'm with George (Sand) here, now back the truck up! George's is hands down the Best Steak House ever! I went there for my birthday. I had not eaten beef for years, but my Son wanted to take me there. I ordered steak for the first time in years. It was to die for! Decor? What decor?

I have eaten at Dale's also. These two places are in a different league, IMHO. Dale's is waaaay too salty for me. Everything I have had there is dripping in Dale's Sauce. Everything there is drown in salt.

I don't work at either one and have no affiliation with either. I don't know the owners or anybody who works there. I just know what I know.
well, i don't work there either! (but i think they believe i am on the payroll sometimes!) hahaha
i go quite often! NO BETTER FOOD IN TOWN!!!
i have been eating there an average of twice a week for almost 15 years! never once have i sent a plate back! on wed. nite they have specials. great prices on some really great dishes! everyone should try the "greek chicken" and "pork tenderloin" it's like eating a slice of heaven!!!
they redecorated last summer and it looks great .as for the food ...best food for any price for 200 miles .hands down the best in the area.In the future don't be critical if you are ill informed. And give these owners a break some of us are just bearly getting bye in these tough times..if you dont have anything nice to say then just comment on yourselves. From what Ive read you guys could keep busy for a long time on that........
I've lived many different places and sampled many great steakhouses and restaurants and of all Georges is my hands down favorite. Is it the best steak I have ever had? NO! But I've had many great steaks and some have been at Georges and yes Dales. Houston's in Atlanta is a great steakhouse also but no longer living there I'll take Georges anyday and while Georges is high priced for this area it's still less than Dales and far less than many Steakhouses in Atlanta and other cities where you will pay twice what you pay at Georges and still get less.

Georges has some of the best shrimp I've had anywhere and their Red Snapper is also done very well. On the lower end of the menu if you go for Chopped Steak you will get a great tasting steak that will leave you satisfied and well worth what you have to pay. My last trip to Dales I can't say the same. Dales Chopped Steak was among the worst I've had and I won't be ordering it from there again.

As for the decor at Georges I think their remodel was an improvement and looks very well. It's not too dark (which Dales can be at times) and it's still one of the best places to take a date or have a prom dinner. Georges is by far one of the best restaurants in this area but that's just my take on it.
I've eaten steaks at restaurants all over the country, and I'll take a "Pittsburg style" (blackened) medium rare filet at George's over just about any of them. The only steak I can think of that was better was at The Palm in Nashville, and it was FAR more expensive than George's. I don't consider $25 for a good sized filet with soup or salad, a side item, and bread overpriced. Try an ala carte steakhouse and you won't think George's prices are too high.
i've heard about this place for years and maybe some day i will get to go. however after my meal at the MESA Grill in Las Vegas no other steaks will probably compare to that. it was a ribeye that was USDA Prime quality, so im doubting any meat at georges is labeled prime, and i also bet that no piece of meat there is 46 bucks though. so yea once you've dropped nearly 2 C notes on a meal and drinks for 2 at a high end restaurant then NOTHING seems overpriced here in shoals.
