Yeah, because...particularly in the case of UFO's, there's obviously never been the first shred of credible evidence that they exist, right?

Because the government's statements about various highly-publicized events have always made logical sense, and seemed totally truthful, informative, and forthcoming, right?

So why would one-third of Americans believe in such a ridiculous thing?

I mean, when you look at the infinite number of stars and galaxies in the universe, it really doesn't make much sense to think that any one of them may have somehow developed intelligent life or the ability to travel great distances in space, does it?

Right on, Bluesman. You're a shining knight among modern, educated, intellectual mankind. Really.
The only aliens I believe in are the ones sneaking into this country from south of the border.

I believe in the possibility of life on other planets, but until E.T. comes down and says hello, I don't think we're actually being visited by them or that they are abducting folks.

I used to not believe in ghosts, then I had a couple very weird experiences when I worked at WVNA. I don't know if it was ghosts, but it was definitely unexplainable.

I'm sure there have been/are other intelligent life in the universe but given how large it is it is unlikely it would exist near us in our time. Perhaps a billion years ago in a neighboring galaxy.
One should never lose their sense of wonder. That said, the only UFOs are just that -- phenomenon we haven't figured out, just yet.

Saw a study that stated there were only about a dozen worlds in our galaxy with intelligent live and we were one of them. So, at best life is sparsely spread out. And, obviously there are no advanced civilizations within 50 light years of Earth, or they're really advanced.

I'm not sure there's much intelligent life on in this universe....

How funny, I had an "experience" at WVNA myself.
Are we really that small minded to think we are the only planet with life on it? I'm not saying there are UFO's and Aliens, but who are we to say that there aren't? And ghosts, I have heard a lot of stories from people who witnessed things first hand! They have convinced me that it is possible...as for me witnessing anything myself close to a ghost, it hasn't happened...YET!!

That is a distinct possibility.

The universe has had quite a few billion year head start on humanity. If there are intelligences who evolved early in the life of the universe, they have had plenty of time to explore our galaxy and make themselves known to us humans. So where are they?

I would like to believe that the universe is teeming with intelligent life but no one can deny that Someone must be the first intelligent life. Perhaps we are the first, as unlikely as it may seem.

Will someone pass me the bong, please?

E.T., phone Nash! Smiler

Can you tell us what happened? I love those "unexplained" stories!
One night probably 10 yrs ago, my Mom and I were driving home from Florence! We lived in Greenhill and we were almost home! There is a stop sign about 1 mile from my parents house that we had stopped at! In the field across the road there was something strange hovering over next to a house! It was very close to the ground, I turned off the radio and rolled down the window slightly (I was a little frightened) and couldn't hear anything! There was no sound and some lights all around it! When I say it was close to the ground I mean like house high! There was a beam of light shining straight down from it, we were in awe! We still to this day have no clue what it was! As we drove away we were pondering what it could have been! As I looked in my rear view it was there, I looked away at the road, when I looked again it looked as if it were moving away from us and the beam of light was gone, just had a couple of red and some white lights all around, really in no certain order or sequence??? WIERD!! You probably had to be there, too!
I had some experiences while living in an old farm house once where at 11pm EVERY night, something or someone would walk around in the attic. No dog would stay in the house, one G Sheppard jumped thru a closed window one night. Doors would open, and shut. Once a rocking chair just started rocking- no one in it.
I don't know what was the cause of all that, but everybody including the landlord said it was haunted. I will refer to whatever it was a a ghost until I have a better explination.
Other things, just too much to relay here. I tried to find a former thread on this, but the search engine for the forums is not working.

Nash, I remember when you and I both worked there. But to clear it up I must confess. It was me unplugging Rush Limbaugh and piping in Larry King instead.
