Thanks for the replies my wife and I ate there Thursday evening ,the bill was $33.00,the service was good .They don't have chicken fried steak so we had steaks that were cooked on a griddle ,no charcoal or wood fire. the steaks were tough ,we couldn't eat 1/3 of them. She had desert a tiny piece of cheese cake,we both had coffee and another drink(no alcohol).NO all u-can-eat catfish. They want $10 for 2 catfish fillets ,that's what they call a large order of catfish.WE won't be back.
First impressions are important ,the staff Knew we were old loyal customers of the previous owners and treated us thusly they were rewarded ,when you order a ribeye and you get something else and a sirloin an you get something with chuck or something you can't chew or barely cut(I can chew almost anything eatable).I like sirloin ,I know it is tough but it's cheaper and tastier than other cuts to me .Don't over cook it and it's good. You can't fix stupid!!
Personally, I am a waitress there at Gill's Steakhouse. We opened 9-1-09, and the business has been great. I'm not too much of a "steak eater," but last night I tried the Delmonico, and it was wonderful. I'm sorry so many of you have had your bad experience at Gill's, but I'm sure if you let us know, we could surely work something out. Our prices aren't that bad, neither is the food. I like it a lot better than Maxwell's, plus it's a heck of a lot cleaner. As far as complaints that I've had while I was on the job, I've only had two. But then I heard that we were being talked about on here, and I see more; although, I also seen more compliments. Every restaurant has it's hard day where not too many things go right, but then again, you are right.. the customers shouldn't have to pay for it. But I'm sure that your next experience will be a lot better..and that's a promise. :]
Gill's Steakhouse is a very nice clean place....and I wanted to comment on ka-O-hub....Ive seen into the kitchen it is not a griddle the steaks and chicken is cooked on it is all cooked on an open flame grill and just think if you got a 10oz steak any where else in florence you would be paying the $33.00 bucks just for the steak alone and you got two meals and even desert.....I have ate their and it is extremely good!
Mr ka-O-hub I was wondering why did you start this forum when you only have bad stuff to talk about because you started it on 9-7-09 asking if anyone has ate their but then you ate their on 9-3-09 and you didn't like it. what it looks like to me is that you just wanted something to complain about and say stuff that isn't even true about the grill and the meat.....I am a delivery man that comes into gill's and ive seen the owner cut those steaks every morning and making shure each one is too the exact ounce I believe he knows what kind of steak is what...between a ribeye and sirloin.......and for the chicken fried steak you went to a steakhouse how many steakhouses cook chicken fried steak.......my opinion is that the steaks are wonderful......my favorite is the top-eye you've got to try it!!!!!

Being that Gills is owned by the same people who ran the O'Bryan's in Red Bay, I found them to be the same great quality, and the wait staff was absolutely terrific. Thank goodness Muscle Shoals finally got a good steak house. Maxwell's was good, but to inconsistent in quality.

I had not planned on trying Gill's, but if the O'Bryan's connection is true, they will be added to my rotation.

At least you try to fix your mistakes. More than once, I asked to speak to a manager at Maxwell's and was told that there wasn't one. When I asked for a discount, I was told "We don't do that". We finally gave up on Maxwell's. We will try Gill's soon.
