happened in Nov 2008. Who dropped the ball?

Would you have liked it better if there were Tea Baggers there with their sidearms strapped on like at some of their rallies ?
Barack Obama's 'guns and religion' blunder gives Hillary Clinton a chance.

Hillary Clinton says her rival is exposed as an elitist with comments that look like an attack on small-town attitudes in the United StatesTim Reid in Washington Across the Pond: the US elections blog

Hillary Clinton believes that Barack Obama has finally handed her a real opportunity to win the Democratic nomination after his comments that “bitter” small-town Americans “cling to guns or religion”, perhaps the greatest blunder of his presidential campaign.

I guess Hillary didn't get the joke either.

Well, I guess it's better than clinging to my guns.

No I will not give it a rest. Seriously.

Many, many people have been warning about the dangers of this kind of propaganda for years, and I will continue to post my own opinion of it.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

"Clinging to guns," was Obama's line during a speech particularly bigoted towards the religious and conservative.

No s***.

I heard Beck, Hannity and the other Musketeer, Limbaugh, re-play the "they cling to guns and religion" video over and over again. It was a joke.

I don't think he was being bigoted towards religion and conservatives; I think he was being honest.

I've seen the video, Obama did not make the speech in a joking manner. He has serious and it was a bigoted statement.

Sorry, to read you share the same views.

I meant I was joking. I didn't say I shared the same views; I just used what Obama said in a joking manner.

I believe what Obama was speaking of in his "cling to God and Guns" statement, is the entire "right wing conspiracy" ( to borrow a term from Hillary) to gin up some notion that Obama, or the Democrats , have an agenda to take away your guns and change or force you to abandon your religion.
Rachel Maddow went to Alaska and went to the campaign headquarters of that guy who was running for senator. At the time, he refused to give an interview (although later on he gave her one , of a sort, on the run).
At any rate, as she was leaving she started talking to his supporters. They were against Obama because "he's going to take away our guns" or "he's against guns" or "he hates our guns" .
Rachel ask each of them where they got that idea, what thing had he done to make them think it. Their answer, universal, I don't know, I just know he's against them.
Well, I know, it's a years long campaign of dissemination of lies from right wing media that these sheeple listen to.
So, I think, what he was really saying , but being nice, is "they turn to their lies and ignorance". If that is not what he ment, then it is what I mean.

LOL, hope your kid is perfect. You're the kind who would kick him out if he 'can't' handle something.

All those suicidal crazies are normal people butter. Why, you may even have a few 'deformed' ones in your family tree.

Really, and the atheists think the world is against them? BS!

Maybe they got the idea from here.

You know nothing about my kid. He's got enough self-confidence and smarts to not be suicidal...or cry about everything. I know that.

You don't understand at all, do you?
Smarts has nothing to do with it.
Neither does self-confidence, but live in your own world.
Charles Manson never laid a hand on Sharon Tate. He is, however, just as guilty of murder as his "followers" who physically killed her because he influenced the decision.

I don't think anyone, around 1970, would have told you that Charles Manson was innocent in the killings just because he didn't do the stabbing.

He was a very dangerous individual who manipulated normal, middle-class kids...kids that didn't have criminal backgrounds. He knew how to bring out their individual weaknesses, and use those weaknesses to his advantage. If those kids hadn't been manipulated by Manson, Sharon Tate would probably still be alive today.

Beck and Palin (and some of the other teabagger leaders) are just as charismatic - actually, manipulative - as Manson. They are just as dangerous.

Maybe true. But there are lots of ways to ENCOURAGE it, just a Beck, Palin, and many on this board do every day.

Light another Newport...sip on your Diet Coke...and enjoy your ride on the Democratic love train.

So, give up the forum. Surely even you have more of a life than this.

Your suicidal, crazy, teabagger god, Beck, is the one who compared progressives with Stalin and Hitler. He's the one pushing everyone to buy gold, and stock their pantries with years and years worth of food. He's the one encouraging his listeners to buy pitchforks. All the while, he's laughing all the way to the bank and thinking of new ways to manipulate...and make money off the ignorant masses.

I know you've gone quite mad but try to comprehend this. I have NEVER heard Glen Beck speak, I have never seen Glen Beck's show, never read anything he wrote, and if it wasn't for you lunatic democrats I'd might not have any idea the man even existed. No one I know has ever uttered his name. AND all your outrage is phoney- plain and simple. You could not care less about the woman shot or the others killed. You're just a drama queen. You bow and kiss the a** of the so called celebrities that have called for the death of Bush, Cheney and other Republicans. Then to show you have gone completely insane you make that stupid post about Charles Manson.
Obama doesn't mind violence:
On Monday, the buzz was about how the president had weighed in on the redemption of Michael Vick. Obama phoned the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles to praise the team for giving a second chance to the quarterback, who is again a National Football League star 19 months after leaving prison for his role in a horrific dogfighting ring that killed pit bulls by electrocution, hanging and drowning.

You seem to have that kind of "dominant" personality, too.

LOL, nice try. I take care of myself, not fat, not a dyke, sorry but that means you and I won't be "hooking up" so there goes your dream of that. I have the best husband and children in the world. Business owner and hardworker, beautiful nails, hint, you can get someone to care for yours too if you would stop chewing on them. Nice hair, and well groomed. Not a smoker or a drinker. I know you love your booze and I'd imagine you have that big old beer gut like all the boozers have. I'm not a dominant person I just can't tolerate the BS which oozes out of your pores. You're just use to telling people "off" and not getting any opposition to your bull. You're the one that fancys herself "dominant" or the big dog in the pack. I'm logical and I don't suffer fools. AND I don't make up shyt like you. Oh and this will really kill you, natural 36Ds. And they aren't sagging either! Anything else you want to know? Oh and I can PROVE what I say.

You're pointing out petty insults? Really? You just asked me if my kid had two mommies. Roll Eyes

Someone should point out your bad grammar. Takes me 10 minutes to get through one of your posts - even the terse ones.
Children, calm down!

Nationwide the left wingers are guilty of politicus interruptus -- firing off their mouths before checking their facts.

From "A classmate of the man accused of shooting Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords this morning describes him as "left wing" and a "pot head" in a series of posts on Twitter this afternoon.

Caitie Parker did not immediately respond to our request for an interview, but her "tweets" in the hours after the shooting paint a picture of Jared Loughner as a substance-abusing loner who had met Giffords before the shooting. She says, Loughner described the congresswoman as "stupid and unintelligent.'"

If you're comparing subjects, the pronouns after than should take the subjective case. So "than I" is what you should have used.

Boy, I must be getting under your skin, Jen. You just won't let my posts go. Big Grin

I'm not a child, el, and I'll post what I feel like posting.

By letting your posts go you mean let you try to insult and sit and take it. Maybe you bully your family but I don't play that. You don't have what it takes to "get under my skin." I see you for what you are and I treat you in the appropriate manner. You don't impress me. And again, "than me" is acceptable. You must have been homeschooled.
Here you go butter, read and learn.

The Columbia Guide to Standard American English (3):

Than is both a subordinating conjunction, as in She is wiser than I am, and a preposition, as in She is wiser than me.... Since the following verb am is often dropped or “understood,” we regularly hear than I and than me. Some commentators believe that the conjunction is currently more frequent than the preposition, but both are unquestionably Standard.
