This has got to be one of the most asinine statements ever made on this forum. Were you actually able to type that statement in and keep a straight face? I bet you also recollect the sky being filled with unicorns and rainbows back then too, eh?
Truth of the matter is, people back then didn't have video games and 5 color tv's in the house. The kids played outside and men worked in factories where the conditions were less than ideal. People weren't affected by temp extremes because they were out in them every day instead of being sacked out on the couch in a climate controlled house. I remember leaving the house early in the morning and not coming home until late evening and it being hotter than hades in between. Mom wouldn't let us lay around the house, so it was either go out and play or be put to housework, or worse work out in the garden. We'd hang out at the lake unsupervised with no floatation devices and swim and run all day long, and we survived it just fine. We were skinny and in shape from all the sweating and running around during the hot summers, now we are just fat with no imagination and have forgotten what fun we used to have and how we didn't care how hot or uncomfortable we really were.
