My friend, God has final judgment. EVERY knee shall bow and EVERY tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Everyone will have to answer for their sins. Including the ones who are suvivors of this storm, like you and me.

If you accept the Westburo bunch as indicative of Christians, may we accept Stalin, Mao, the two Kims and Pol Pot as indicative of atheists?

The only people who can make their actions consistent with what the Bible teaches are those who love to twist the Bible's words every bit as much as Westboro Baptist members.

BamaBunny, you've likely seen this Westboro bunch on the news & just didn't recall that was the name of the 'church'. They've made headlines a gazillion times for showing up at military funerals with their hate signs. Nobody agrees with their message, certainly not other Christians, certainly not God. Unless Unob is nuts himself & I truly hope he is not, Unob is very much aware of this.

FYI, there are many atheists I respect, including on this forum DF and Jennifer.  Just wished to show how an irrational statement may be twisted upon the person who utters it.

you guy go ahead and pile up on me if it makes you feel better. but their statements certainly are supported with the same biblical "truths" espoused by some on this forum.  they are certainly indicative of the mindset of many christians.  to deny that is to deny reality. 

i can promise you that i am as sickened by the evil displayed in this "news release" as any of you.  probably even more so because my blinders made of faith have been removed. all christians, at some level, harbor the same kind of hatred and intolerance exhibited by the westborro people.  unless you reject the concept of hell altogether, you gleefully support eternal ****ation as just punishment for people like me who think too much. you look forward to the end of the earth (coming this month, may 22nd, by the way).  you use your religious beleifs to deny basic rights of women and homosexuals and so much more.

the difference between many of you and westborro is only a matter of degree.

Wow! Im totally shocked! Believe it or not, I try and just read the paper and not watch the news except for the weather, because it is so dissapointing. Never anything good. I only read sections of the paper too. This group of people in that building may be ?????? Who am I to say though. Thanks for the explination. 

I would like to thank you for bringing up the topic. Yes at first it was confusing to who wrote it, but after the information that has been shared on this thread has been posted. There is no way to twist the truth. Uttering things can sometimes open ones eyes and their hearts to see what their up against.

In my personal opinion, when dear old Uno, our FISHY Friend, posted this discussion -- he put himself directly in bed with Fred Phelps and all the haters of the world.  I see no difference between the person who posted this initial post -- and Fred Phelps.   God help them both!

God is not so blind that He does not see the darkness in both.

And, yet, has anyone else noticed that Uno's avatar is wearing a cross?  So, in that sense, Uno is wearing a cross?  Could the Holy Spirit be working in the darkness of his heart -- even when he does not know it?

That is a bald faced lie. You know NOTHING about what is in the heart of anyone but yourself, if THAT. You seem to like Veep quite well. Once again, you are assuming you know the hearts and minds of others. I don't know ANY Christian who is "gleeful" about the idea of anyone going to hell. I don't know any who is looking forward to the end of the earth. As a matter of fact, most Christians I know are enjoying life far too much to want to see it end, in spite of the fact that we know Heaven will be even better.

And how is it that half of Christians want to deny OURSELVES basic rights? At least half of us ARE women you know. And every time Peter Rielly goes on one of his rants, you see many many of us jumping to the defense of homosexuals, so you're wrong on that too.

Context, Holden, context. You can't ake things from the old testament out of context. You must remember that when Christ died for our sins, everything changed. Because of His love, he suffered terribly. And because of His love, we are forgiven. He Himself said that LOVE was the greatest thing, and that our first duty is to love God, and our second duty was to love each other. And when you get right down to it, THAT is what it is all about.

Let me draw you an analogy. Parents love their child. Their child keeps running out into the street. Because the child runs into the street, he gets punished so he will learn to stay in the yard where he will be safe.

The child just doesn't seem to learn his lesson though, so eventually the parents realize something else must be done. They put up a fence. Now the child can't run into the street anymore. No running into the street=no more punishment.

WE are the child, God is the parents, Jesus is the fence.

Same God, different circumstances. Got it?

Gotta love the WBC.  They're still mad that the fine folks of Mississippi shut them down a few weeks ago.

Louis Theroux of BBC-2 did a couple of documentaries about the WBC.  Search for "Most Hated Family in America" on youtube to watch them.  Those folks are nuts.

What if said child climbs the fence?

That is a good question, Semi. I suppose the child that climbs the fence is akin to those who reject Jesus - in other words, atheists. The good news is that until they are killed in traffic, they can always climb back over the fence and into the yard.

According to the bible they should be put to death.

No Semi, I guess it DOESN'T necessarily make the child an atheist. It makes that child rebellious just as so many of the Jews in the old Testament were rebellious. But THAT is why God sent us Jesus - the fence.

The problem with the child climbing the fence is that he is in danger. Just like without Jesus, we are in danger. The parents want him to be safely in the yard, just as God wants us to be safely in the arms of Jesus, because just like the parents love their child, God loves us.
