Three or four years from now, you don't know in what state someone will die.

I understand what you're saying, but I think Christians/non-Christians can & should second guess those that claim to be a Christian.
In one of Jesus' parables he uses the analogy of someone sowing seeds, and what can happen to the seeds afterward. The Bible speaks of "The seed is rotten under their clods". That could apply to the condition of some “Christians” . When a seed is properly planted in the "good soil" it will bring forth good fruit. What does it bring forth if planted in “bad soil”?
The Bible says: And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: "A sower went out to SOW his SEED. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold."
I’ll admit to searching, trying to find what it all means & if it’s true. I learn a lot on this religion forum. Some things said might lead to more searching, more questions. Some things jump out at me, & my instincts kick in that it’s wrong. Such is Bill Gray. He’s like the sower with seeds that fell on rock & some among thorns.
I believe, if the Bible is true, those parables/scriptures are given so that a person can second guess the motives of someone that calls themselves a Christian.
I could be/may be wrong but that's how I see it.
