We STILL have free will and can let go of His hand if we want to. I don't know WHY anyone who has had His guidance would ever want to let go, but there it is.

i understand your point, but i disagree...
if we give control of our lives to soemone else, it negates the effect of free will, EVEN if it's by our free will they control our life.

a guy i used to know.. i can't say he was my friend... i thought he was a kook. but i knew him. he 'gave his life to jesus' in high school. he would pray over everything. i mean seriously, everythng. over dinner options... 'lord should i have the chicken or the beef? make me hungry for the one you want me to have"...
every little thing. we didn't hang out together much. it took ten minutes to decide anything, cause he had to check with 'the old man'.

when he was in his early 20's he finally, somehow, met a girl who was just like him. they would go on dates where they sat on the grass in the evening and looked at the stars and prayed. for hours. it was what they enjoyed doing together and he said it saved him the money a movie would cost. hard to argue that point.

about a month after they became engaged, they were driving.. someplace.. i dunno.. and were clipped by an 18 wheeler on the interstate, lost control and flew offthe road, flipping the car end over end.
the girl died, her mom i nthe back seat died, his brother, the best man died, and he lost his right leg at his knee.

he never let go of god's hand. (so to speak)
if god leads us around by the hand, if we ask him to, why did he lead that guy to such horrific pain and loss?

i'm not going to argue the point, O... i respect your belief... i was just trying to explain mine...

That to me seems a bit overboard. I pray about many many things in my life but I dont pray for God to live my life for me and make decisions for me. I study things out, then I make a decision, then I go to the Lord in prayer to see if it was the best possible decission. Again, I studied it out. I made the decision. If I feel that there is a better solution after praying, I go through the same process. I also ask God to bless me too.

god is real. he does have a plan for us, but until we evolve mentally and emotionally we arent' even capable of understanding that there is a question to be asked, much less what the answer would mean.

he does what he feels to be best for our future welfare, regardless of what we feel we need for our current situation. his goal for us is what we will evolve into in another ten or twenty or a hundred thousand years, no matter what we want NOW. we want world peace and an end to hunger and suffering. maybe he sees that what's needed is a whittling down of the gene pool, such that one global war and starvation can provide.
he cares about us, as people, but his primary interet is us, as a race. it's necessary to allow some to die... it's necessary to activly kill some, even, to help mold the final product into what you wish it to be.

OK, that is funny. Well done.

See? I can take it, as well as dish it out.

Windsong, the best decisions I ever made in my life were decisions I didn't make. I have made some major moves in life, both figuatively and literally, that I didn't decide on at all. When people would ask me why I was moving to a place where I didn't know a soul, I would tell them honestly, I'M not doing it, it is HAPPENING to me. When I opened my business, it was the same way. God did it, and I just went along for the ride. Smiler

I hear what u are saying, but you decided to follow the promptings and move, or start your business. You still made decisions. Isnt it wonderful to know we are guided by our Father in heaven even when we dont realise it at the time!

I know this was meant to be funny, but if a person is a true Christian, they don't pray for things like personal gain. A true Christian only prays to do God's will and become a better Christian.

Even when I pray for others, it is always, "Lord, if it is you will, please let my friend get better. And Lord, if it is NOT your will, please help us both to accept that gratefully."

At least now we know who was sent here to reveal who the true Christians are.

I'm sorry but you're beginning to sound as bad as Bill Gray. Why would anyone go to your blog when all they have to do is open a Bible?

Because the Bible is so vague that it has to explained. God was too illiterate to produce a clear, coherent text.

Hi Dwight/Skippy,

YOUR god in heaven or wherever Mormon gods reside (I thought that all good Mormons become gods and have their own planets) -- what was his name before he was a god?

Was he George, or Sam, or Mohammed? When he was just an exalted man -- what was his name?

Does he still go by that name -- or do you now just call him "god"?

Can you see how confusing all your gods are to the inquiring mind? Please clear up some of the confusion and introduce us to some of your many gods. Tell us their names, where they live, who were their fathers -- and who was the first Mormon god -- and where did he come from, who was his father? Surely there must have been a first god -- was he a man -- or, just what was he -- and where?

Inquiring minds really want to know. Do YOU have any idea -- or has this escaped your mind, that you should never ask or the Mormon church will punish you for asking heretical questions.

Just curious!!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

god, this is so.... evil. such a primitive, callous way of looking at the world.

here you are, supposedly a decent human being, yet totally supportive of a omnipotent being who thinks nothing of killing 10,000 people in a tsunami and caused the greatest anguish a human can suffer and you claim there is a good side to this?

look, here is a dose of reality: **** happens. death is the price ALL life pays for living. the laws of the universe demand that we all be recycled back into the universe over and over and over again for trillions of years until the arrival of the heat death of the universe.

that is reality, ono. you are welcomed to join the rest of us at any point.
What is more "evil"? Thinking that a tragedy like the tsunami is just "one of those terrible things", or thinking that there is a God who will see to it that eventually there will be a HAPPY outcome from all this tragedy?

Remember, I never said that God CAUSED the tsunami. He set up the universe and all of the laws that govern the way the universe works. But once those laws were set in motion, He doesn't have to "do" anything to make the universe work.

There have been tsunami's before. There are/were rocks and monuments all over the coastline of Japan telling people NOT to build beyond this point. They were put there by people who had survived tsunamis in the past.

But people built there anyway. They even put nuke plants there. They ignored the clear warnings that were given to them. Did you ever think that maybe GOD had those long ago people post those warnings? They ignore their own people, just as they ignore God.

The Bible is full of references about people ignoring His warnings about a lot of things. He brought His people out of slavery, He fed them, He took care of them, and yet still they turned on Him. That's just the way people are.

So instead of blaming a God you don't believe in, why not blame the human nature that led these people to ignore the clear warnings? And why not rejoice that in spite of their foolishness, God has something wonderful in store for them?

No, the Bible isn't vague at all. It's very clear, though it does seem to have some contradictions in it.
If you don't find it clear & can't understand it, maybe you should get someone to explain it to you. Could be you're the one that's illiterate.

Hi Dwight/Skippy,

True, God does have many names. But, you say that YOUR god also has a father, and his father had a father. And, that all your gods were first men.

Who was the original Mormon father? Where did he come? If he was the first Mormon god -- where did he come from since he could not have a father -- he being the first god?

And, very important -- will YOU (DWIGHT/SKIPPY) become a god and have your own planet, with your own goddess wives, and populate your planet with spirit children?

I would truly appreciate answers -- and not more "Mormon Two Step" dancing. Is that possible -- or will your church get mad at you if you answer me?

Dwight/Skippy, the more often I keep asking these questions (and I will not stop) -- and the more you keep dancing around them -- THE MORE YOUR CHURCH IS SHOWN TO BE A CULT!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
