I just wondered about which local courses might be easier for someone getting back in game after a long absence. Thanks for any advice.

Spring Creek in T-town is a FLAT course. not a hard walk. but not a really challenging course. nice place to "re-start" your game. lets you make some long straight drives. kinda like playing on a driving range. LOL. i like it. 
I'll tell you which one to avoid! That's the links course at RTJ. Fightin' Joe. Too much water and too many weeds! LOL

I do, however, like The Schoolmaster at RTJ. It's my favorite locally.
A short drive from here is the Shiloh Falls LINKgolf course near the Battlefield National Park. It's a beautiful course with lots of wildlife and stunning views of the river. I don't like the 15th hole though. The Tee box is on a cliff and the hole is at least a hundred feet below. I was scared to follow through because I felt as if the momentum would carry me off the cliff.

Sring creek is great nine hole course for starting back. Also there is Twin Pines in Littleville very nice course to play. Twin Pines is a 18 hole course. And there is Valley Landing in just east of Town Creek on highway 20.
Joe Wheeler state park is a great place to start back, wide fairways, flat greens, beautiful scenery, low cost, usually less crowded. Spring creek, then Anderson creek,then blackberry, if you can afford it the RTJ courses are fun, challenging and exceptional.

RTJ has a membership package that's not outrageous and their course rivals Turtle Point's. (Steer clear of the links course!! Ouch! I've donated several golf balls to the weeds there)
