What "differing viewpoints"?  All you hear out of either side is more of the same...more money...more, bigger government...more, more of the same.

Ronnie Reagan may not have lived up to his rhetoric, but that doesn't change the truth of the statement:  "Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem."

If we could actually get a politician (Ron Paul) to live up to that statement, we would finally be headed in the right direction.

Is that that is called when Bush outed the CIA agent because her husband was blowing the whistle on his lies to lead us to war?

Right on. I knew it would take a decade or more to recover from the Bush years, but the Boehner / McConnell group seems intent on dragging us into the third world where we'll all be competing with Mexicans for landscaping jobs.

Plame was a CIA employee, not an agent. She was listed in the public organization chart.  Saw the chart, myself.

Richard Armitage disclosed her status, but didn't "out her."  The special prosecutor admitted that and stated Armitage committed no crime.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own set of facts.

You forgot to mention Gitmo, Abu Graib and waterboarding.

To compare the millions killed in the gulags and the killing fields with Gitmo, Abu Ghraib or waterboarding is shameful and denigrates those millions of victims.  Of course, they were, for the most part enemies of the left, educated people.

Gitmo is still open and just a high security prison.  Abu Ghraib was a serious mistake, but only a couple of people died. A number were highly embarrassed.  Waterboarding killed no one.

 Venter,

OK I got it. It's the old "our killing is better than your killing" argument.

Again we would not be in this crises if the Democrats would have done their job when they were in power. Instead Cap and Trade / Obamacare??? I'm glade they didn't because now the Dems have to negotiate where they were unwilling to even concider the other point of view. Just remember whatever goes down, the House as to agree. Tuff cookies for King Obama.

Ah "Skippy"  the democrats still have 2 of the 3 legislative bodies.

I can't believe I am trying to debate with someone who uses the term "Tuff cookies" (now I know how the president felt sitting at a table with Eric Cantor before little Eric took his marbles and went home) but it has been the republicans all along who were unwilling to negotiate on ANYTHING and if you will look beyond your own wishful thinking that  this type of behaviour is somehow empowering the GOP and view actual polls, it is very likely that the "tea party" will be over come the 2012 elections.

Why don't you discuss this with your buddy Jimbo and get back to me. And that's one of the two legislative bodies. The other is the Executive Kingdom held by one man. That will change before you know it.

And all those buildings at Auschwitz, Dachau, and Treblinka were just where the guests were taken to wash off after their long journey on the train.

Propie,

I know you're smarter than Extra, but so's a tree toad.

However, you exhibit the same lack of sensibility, to compare the death camps with Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.  Nine million exterminated by the NSDAP, another manifestation of the left, is disrespectful to those who died.

The US punished the few who broke the law.

I'd ask if you had no shame, but the lack is obvious.  Like the true believer, its everything for the cause.

Ha ha what a spin hack you are. I just pointed out your total lack of  anything with your effort to justify killing innocent people in the name of freedom (by Bush/Cheney admin) verses the commies killing in the name of freedom.(their version).

You are without any form of moral clarity and a perfect example of the A moral mindset that is ruling our country. When martial law is announced, YOU will be in the vanguard killing your own countrymen, in the name of freedom of course.

And we have never punished those who ordered torture.

Extra the more you post, the nuttier you sound.

This is the real world. It is very dangerous. These Guys want to attack our Country, our way of life.

These terrorists were not picked up from Sunday School. They were most likely caught on a battle field or in the act of doing what they do. They only respect one thing, that's force. Eye for an Eye kinda thing. So suck it up and don't be a wimp all your life.

Skippy,

We are a nation of laws that are designed to protect the rights of the individual. You and Ventor are from the strain of people who believe we save the Republic by destroying the values that built it. In the name of fighting terrorism, there is no heinous crime you will condemn. You and Interventor have already justified the killing of innocent people as well as their torture if you believe in some warped way it will make us safer. That viewpoint is a bottomless pit that threatens the life of all Americans. You, Ventor, and all who are of the same stripe are the very reason I no longer vote Republican.

For a little education, to see the level of abuse, watch the video below.

The U.S. military paid a $3000.00 bounty for this innocent man. With paying money like that, how many other innocents do you think were cought, and how many may have died under torture?

Innocent Gitmo Prisoner Released & Tells His Story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-1zjjOTA3E

Yeah, let's show the world we have some backbone and screw up somebody's life -- just because we can. You know we don't have the n*****s to beat up in Selma anymore, so we have to find somebody else -- just because we can.

Great way to "win friends and influence people," wouldn't you say? Is that why the United States is so  loved around the world?

George W. Bush 'knew Guantánamo prisoners were innocent'

George W. Bush, **** Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld covered up that hundreds of innocent men were sent to the Guantánamo Bay prison camp because they feared that releasing them would harm the push for war in Iraq and the broader War on Terror, according to a new document obtained by The Times.

The accusations were made by Lawrence Wilkerson, a top aide to Colin Powell, the former Republican Secretary of State, in a signed declaration to support a lawsuit filed by a Guantánamo detainee. It is the first time that such allegations have been made by a senior member of the Bush Administration.

Colonel Wilkerson, who was General Powell’s chief of staff when he ran the State Department, was most critical of Mr Cheney and Mr Rumsfeld. He claimed that the former Vice-President and Defence Secretary knew that the majority of the initial 742 detainees sent to Guantánamo in 2002 were innocent but believed that it was “politically impossible to release them”.

General Powell, who left the Bush Administration in 2005, angry about the misinformation that he unwittingly gave the world when he made the case for the invasion of Iraq at the UN, is understood to have backed Colonel Wilkerson’s declaration.

Colonel Wilkerson, a long-time critic of the Bush Administration’s approach to counter-terrorism and the war in Iraq, claimed that the majority of detainees — children as young as 12 and men as old as 93, he said — never saw a US soldier when they were captured. He said that many were turned over by Afghans and Pakistanis for up to $5,000. Little or no evidence was produced as to why they had been taken.

He also claimed that one reason Mr Cheney and Mr Rumsfeld did not want the innocent detainees released was because “the detention efforts would be revealed as the incredibly confused operation that they were”. This was “not acceptable to the Administration and would have been severely detrimental to the leadership at DoD [Mr Rumsfeld at the Defence Department]”.
