LOS ANGELES (KABC/CNN) - California Highway Patrol officers see crashes every day, but a wreck on Friday had them all shocked.

The body of a car crash victim landed several feet above the roadway on an in Interstate 5 freeway sign in Los Angeles. News helicopters captured the graphic image of the man's body resting on the sign's support structure.

Officers say the 20-year-old victim died in the incident near Griffith Park.

The car was said to have hit a truck and flipped, ejecting the man's body from the vehicle. Emergency responders moved in to cover the victim's remains as traffic continued to move along the freeway early Friday morning.

There is no word on what caused the deadly crash.

I saw that. Super weird, and he was only 20 years old.

====================================

California Highway Patrol received a call at 7 a.m. about the driver of a Ford Fiesta traveling recklessly down the southbound 5 Freeway just north of California 134. Shortly after, the car collided with another car, overturned and the driver was ejected, landing on the Colorado Street freeway sign, said Edgar Figueroa, a CHP public information officer.

The driver, Richard Pananian, was not wearing a seatbelt and died, Figueroa said. The Los Angeles Fire Department assisted in removing the body from the sign.
