the mcdonalds that was sued kept their coffee at over 200 degrees to discourage people from getting refills. a much higher temperature than a reasonable person would expect.

TCF: This is very interesting. I've never heard that before. Do you have an online source for it?

I found this:

Truth About McDonald's Scalding Suit

It's on a law firm's website

If I am not mistaken it was kept at 180 degrees which is the way a lot of people like it. It had nothing to with discouraging refills, that was just a baseless allegation made by the plaintiff and her attorneys.
So, I guess that info ( http://www.lectlaw.com/files/cur78.htm ) is from the lady's attorneys?

It says "excerpted from ATLA fact sheet. © 1995, 1996 by Consumer Attorneys of California".

At http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...orneys_of_California , it says "Consumer Attorneys of California is an organization with more than 3,000 lawyers that represents plaintiffs in tort actions. It charges plaintiffs only if they win their cases, meaning they use a contingency-based fee system. According to Consumer Attorneys of California, those it sues generally are far greater in strength than its clients. [citation needed]. Up until 1995, it was known as the California Trial Lawyers association."

...but still not sure exactly.

I assume ATLA stands for American Trial Lawyers Association.

Anyway, I must be really bored right now...lol...just curious if this is a one-sided take or the truth of the situation.
