Democrats have a lapse in logic, when it comes to firearms vs. their recreational drugs. To be fair, so do conservatives, but in a different manner.
As shown, French terrorists had no problems obtaining full automatic weapons and hand grenades for the last two terror attacks, despite very strict firearms and explosives laws.
Firearms used by terrorists in the US were semiautomatic and legal. However, the cartels in Mexico, central and South America are very artful in supplying to US citizens what the government doesn't wish its citizens to obtain -- drugs and human trafficking, most notably. Democrats desire the war on drugs to end and conservatives, in the main, desire the ban to continue. Mexico, central and South America are awash in full automatic weapons on the blackmarket. Sources include army surplus and stolen from armies in that area and illegal imports.
Ban or place severe restrictions on US weapons. The cartels will gladly make up the shortage in demand for gangs and terrorists with full automatic weapons.
