I went thru the McDonald's drive-thru at Red Bay a week or so ago and ordered a hamburger with just lettuce on it. I'm a bit paranoid they are going to screw my order up so I always check it before biting into it. To my disgust, there was a hair laying on the top of the bun!

To make matters worse, I ordered a biscuit from Jack's in Red Bay yesterday and when I got to work and started to eat the bacon biscuit, a long hair was hanging out of the biscuit.

Talk about killing an appetite! I can see complaining but really I don't want to ever eat at either place again! Jack's offered to send me coupons but really that's not the point.

The point is if you're going to work in food establishments please wear a hair net and make sure your hair is pulled back in a ponytail underneath that hair net. Use a lint roller or something to get stray hairs off your shirt before you start preparing people's food.

I know it's an accident but really--nobody should have to start their day by unwrapping a biscuit that's got a 4" hair hanging out of it.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Beyonce, I don't know about maggots in ketchup, but I do know that the FDA has standards that allow only certain amounts of contaminates in foods. They are very specific.

I do know that there is a limit on how much rat droppings are allowed in rice for instance.

We have generally become so removed from growing and prepping our food that we forget that farm and warehouse conditions aren't the same as those in our kitchen.

How many of you drink out of a can? Do you ever consider what might have crawled accross that can between filling it, storing it, trucking it, storing it some more, and finally being put on a shelf?

It's best not to think about these things. Fortunately we have developed immunity to most common contaminates.
unclegus--It was Red Bay not Russellville

crustymac--I sure hope that's not the case but to make sure I'm not eating there anymore; in fact I've limited my eating out a lot since those 2 incidents.

To all of the rest of you--as my boyfriend reasoned--this could happen anywhere. But it's still nasto--hope none of the rest of you have to go thru this!
