The following apparently has been enacted by our state politicians or Health department.  Sounds like a way to get a whole lot more money out of people.  Like many things that are said to be done to "Help" us out many end up hurting us and hurting people in the end.  Many people also will find out that when they need this information they will have no way to get or obtain it.  I know I have no idea if I know how I would get it and I don't know who is the builder of my home so I have some research to do so that maybe through knowing the builder I might could research County documents and find where they put in for a permit to install the Septic Tank.  Anyway, I'm posting this for informational purposes as I don't know where this stands or what it is going to mean to a lot of homeowners or people that have septic tanks.

PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT if you live in Alabama and are on a septic system, this applies to you. Oh, that business your buddy tells you that it dont cause you live in county not city. Wrong! I hope yall will contact your local health department. I will give numbers to the 2 1 mainly work in, google your county for number. As of 6/26/18 last monday the State of Alabama Department of Public Health made it mandatory that if you need your septic system repaired you must produce the original permit, that info will be used in repair. If you CAN NOT produce it then you have to hire an engineer to do a percolation test, obtain a new permit under todays rules and regulation. NO YOU CANT GRANDFATHER A SYSTEM. Does this seem fair?? Heres 2 examples out of many just last week to put this in perspective, a guy needed his tank replaced, about a $2,000.00+/- job. NOPE, got to do perc test and do new system. $10- $12,000.00+/_ job now. Is this fair?? This could be you. A guy been saving for months, hes on a fixed income, job $1,800.00+/- got ready to do it, NOPE!! gotta do a new system, $5,000.00+/- IS this Fair?? Both have been living at their residence 30+1- years. How long have you lived at your house?? You will have to repair your system at some point, are you prepared to spend $5 to $25,0000.00??
