What about the speed is ridiculous to you? The speed change before the construction started, 55 mph 45 mph when wet? An abnormally large amount of people have lost their lives or had serious injuries on this stretch of road hence the speed and road changes. You'll have to get used to this one too, last I've heard when the construction is done it'll stay at the 55/45 limit.

Is the construction speed limit of 35 mph ridiculous to you? Do you realize you are driving on an unfinished roadway? Even at 35 mph people have shown they can't pay attention to this stretch of roadway. We are still having wrecks in this portion some more serious then others, one were a person lost their leg. Just recently someone has wiped out the guard rail on the southbound side mid-way through the construction zone. Construction barrels/cones are constantly being knocked over showing people can't stay in their lanes.

People just need to cool it through here.

Gripes me that some morons get right behind you so close you can only see their hood ornaments.
Then weave back and forth and drop back and speed up trying it would seem to get around you. For crying out loud it only a couple of miles so hang on to your patience and my life by just cooling your butt and drive like it says: 35MPH. Bunch of Nit-Wits is the biggest reason for the change anyways. Thank you and stay home today because I'm going to town today and if you get behind some old coot driving 35 it just might be me.
i go thru there everyday as well and even though sometimes it does get frustrating when some people don't know how to drive thru there i understand why there is a speed limit. Another words i can see both sides. If it's raining and u get behind me you might get real angry because i do about 20-25 thru there while raining hard!

I agree it can be frustrating but if you've lived around here for a while you are probably used to people driving like they are on their way to a fire somewhere. I also agree that it's not that big a deal, it's only a few miles. Surely people can slow down long enough to obey the speed limit through there. If the new road can save a life I am all for it... Slow speed limit and all.
I don't see how you can pass anyone. Today I had to travel to Haleyville and a car in front of the line was pulling another car and he had backed the traffic up all the way to where the construction area began. We were going 20mph! It took 20 minutes to go 3 miles. Thank goodness no one had an emergency.
I think it is great that they are trying to improve the road there but the time it has taken and their execution of it is a joke.

I haven't seen any of the guard rail damaged thru there. Confused

i don't know about someone hitting the guardrail but Thursday there was a wreck in the area.

They're there most every night. Littleville has a good hiding place & you don't see them until you're right up on them.

I was on my way to work and got a ticket, first ticket i have ever had(for speeding) he was hid between the cones and the guardrail facing me. I was headed to the tri-cities area. I was speeding though. He did give me a ticket, but he was a nice cop. He told me i can go to driving school so that i don't have a pt. on my licence.
I hate that i got a ticket but i am glad i got a ticket instead of wrecking. Oh it was at night, i work 3rd shift,so there were no workers present which he did mention in the ticket. Lesson Learned i guess!!!

It roughly happened around 12-11 and was repaired fairly quickly, I'd say the 18th or so.

The damaged guard rail was the one if you were driving southbound it would be the first outside guard rail you come to after the center guard rail starts. Someone hit the end cap and had peeled back a good bit of the guard rail. They definetly weren't going 35 or anywhere close to.
