"Rest assured," the letter states, "that it will not be a problem if you are unable or unwilling to provide either of the documents."

Then why even bother?!?!  If the law is the law, why do the "officials" skirt around it?  IMO, it's all about money and politics -- and not in a good way.  The schools don't care if the child is legal or not because they get funding based on the ADA (average daily attendance).  Who cares that most, if not all, of these children are receiving free lunches at the tax payers' expense.  I don't have a problem with anyone being here to try and better themselves, but you need to be here legally!!!  If you're going to dip into the pool where all my tax money goes, then you need some of your own in there.  The big politicians want to keep them here - illegally or not - so that they can get their vote.  And again... why not?  As long as the government that is in place now will continue to support them, then the illegals will keep them in office.  Kind of an oxymoron, don't you think?  You have to be a legal citizen to vote, but somehow the illegals are allowed to vote to keep the people in office who don't mind that they are here illegally (and breaking the law), but that's okay.  I know I've seen many say it on here but really, What part of illegal don't you get?!

I wondered about that too. They are basically saying come on to school anyway,  the law doesn't matter.

Its 100% about money.  According to one superintendent on the news a couple of night ago, his school will lose $4500/student from the state when they leave the system.

While schools may very well lose BEP (Basic Education Plan) moneies, any possible reduction in class size resulting from the loss of children of illegals WILL have a POSITIVE impact on those children remaining.  The drain of resources imposed upon America's classroom teachers in having non-English speaking (OR Latino students that can't even read SPANISH!) students in class has gotten out of hand. Not all children born to (or immigrate with) illegals in the USA actually speak English. Any possible reduction in teachers would be an 'acceptable loss'.

Contendah, I saw this on the evening news the other night and I thought, "What about all the legal people here who need jobs?  Can't they do this just as well?"  Of course, I went on to think that there are many people who think they are above such a job, but when there are zero dollars coming into your home and your family is hungry, etc. why not take this job or ANY respectable job until something better comes along.  The farmers could actually get other laborers if they so choose.  It would take compromise on both sides -- the employers and employees.

The state has an average unemployment rate of about 10%.  Much worse in the farming and rural areas.  Is there some reason that these unemployed people cannot pick the crops?  Oh that's right, they make too much sitting on their butts drawing unemployment and welfare checks.

The farmers who have knowingly employed illegals will now have to pay the price for those transgressions.  Unfortunately, so will we consumers.  I'm OK with that.

Bring us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming s****. But come here under the law.

Of equal concern is the matter of farm workers leaving the state in the wake of Senator Beasons' folly. If you want some scathing commentary on that, ask the farmers whose crops are going to rot in the ground owing to insufficient labor for the harvest! They are ready to tar and feather Beason.

We could ask them who picked the crops before the influx of illegals. They did get picked. Who did it before the illegals found they could break the law and sneak over our borders, get public assistance and take jobs that, indeed, were being done by legal citizens. We could ask them why they don't pay a decent living wage to people that aren't "supplemented" by the government like the illegals are, and can't make it because they don't live more than one family in a house.  We could ask them why we, the buying public, don't get a break on the price of their goods even though they are paying less to have them harvested/produced. They didn't need the legal citizens then, but all of a sudden they do and they want to blame them for being less than thrilled to work for less than a livable wage? Maybe the ones deserving the tarring and feathering are the employers using the illegals and telling the legal citizens they can go "rot". Check out a few sites where legal citizens are advertising for work, any work, to feed and house their family. Now we're supposed to feel bad because the illegals are leaving? Again, the one and only reason the school systems give a flip is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.  So excuse me all to pieces if I can't work up sympathy for illegals and their very well dressed and well fed and/or overfed children. Now proceed to the attacks and "you're a racist" comments. I don't care anymore. I'm sick of legal citizens no matter the race, being put last in line behind people that are breaking the law.

OK, you're a racist and an idiot. Feel better now?

She asked for it in her post. She knows without being told. I was was just stating the obvious. This is not the first time for her, either.

I was unable to post a comment from the article log in point.

Lisa, in my opinion your article was an attempt to hide the real truth of the matter. Hispanics are not the problem in the particular situation you article is based upon. The problem is the illegal/ criminal aliens / greedy / wealthy people / and corporations that don’t care about America or it’s citizens.  I realize that the wealthy business owners and our lack of government is the root of the problem.

We as U.S. citizens and our children are the ones that are and will suffer from the illegal / criminal alien / rich greedy people problem, What is left of the U.S. economy is like a life raft in the water that can only hold 20 people but 100 need in. We as a country and society cannot support everyone. If we try we will all die.  A line must be drawn. Please face the facts of life. Only the strong survive. Neither you nor I made the rules, we just have to figure out away to play and make our lives work.

Do I make sense?

I like reading you articles, even though I don’t agree with you r point of view sometimes.  :   )

I

accidentally started a new thread on this subject.

More people were enslaved under the US flag than ever under the Confederate flag. REFUTE that.

No need to. It has nothing to do with your anit-American bigotry. I am sure that one of the middle-eastern countries that also hate America would be happy to have you come live with them. Perhaps you friend, Eric Holder, could declare you an enemy combatant under the Patriot Act and find you a nice cell in Cuba.

Currently, Holder has far deeper concerns than me. In any event, WHAT have I ever said on this forum (or any other) to make ANYone, even YOU, think that I am 'un-American'? Since WHEN is standing up for one's RIGHTS viewed as being 'yn-American'? Oh, yeah.....I forgot. ANYone that doesn't believe the current Democratic Party blather is treated as 'the enemy'.

You have previously stated that YOU have served in the US miitary. IF SO...WHAT/WHO were you fighting for?
