Home Schools Vs. Public Schools

A very interesting infographic. I found the part on external factors especially enlightening - they don't change the success of homeschooled children.
Furthermore, socialization is not an issue. People who have homeschooled must deal with this all the time, but little do others know the average homeschooled kid is more mature and ready for the real world. Having more time to teach them how to properly socialize is one of the main reasons many parents choose homeschooling.

I think parental involvement is the key to the success of a child regardless of where the education takes place.

It is not surprising that home schooled kids tend to do better than average , home schooling is total parental involvement.  However, I would venture to bet that a kid in public school would do just as well IF he were to have similar backing at home. The venue may be farmed out, but the responsibility of the education of our children is stil, and always will be, the parents.

Home schooling isn't for all. Quality education is.  Saw a TV program comparing cost of a parochial school in the south Bronx vs NYC public school.  Parochial school cost a little over $7,000 vs public school cost of over $18,000 per student.  Most of the parochial school students were middle class or lower., but parents were willing to sacrifice to ensure their kids received a quality edication.  Time for charter schools and vouchers in failing systems.
