The Obama administration has tried repeatedly to push more gun control through Congress, unsuccessfully. It still is trying its hand at a strategy of simply depriving people of their Second Amendment rights.

Now it is signaling a new method, claiming that “gun control” is “part and parcel” of the federal government’s responsibility for homeland security.

It was presented by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson during an appearance on CBS, when he made the claim no less than three or four times that gun control is now “part and parcel” of his agency’s responsibilities.

“I do believe,” he said, “that meanginful, responsible gun control is now part and parcel of homeland security.”

He continued, “It’s critical to public safety. We have to face the fact that meaningful, responsible gun control has to be part of Homeland Security. It’s coming I think the American public has to face.”

Hear him:

Obama pulled out all the stops several years ago to impose new gun control in the United States following the Sandy Hook school shooting tragedy. He’s also used regulations in a number of ways to deprive people of gun rights.

In fact, WND reported only this week that there’s a pending public comment period for a proposed rule that would strip gun rights from an estimated four million or more Americans, without any adjudication.

This infallible argument for armed self-defense presents real stories of Americans fighting back against criminals – and surviving because they were armed. “America Fights Back: Armed Self-Defense In A Violent Age” is a must-read for anyone who has ever wondered if concealed carry can actually save and protect.

The administration already used a similar maneuver to begin removing gun rights from America’s veterans.

And it has prompted warnings that others getting any sort of payment from the federal government soon could be targeted similarly.

“They could go after student loan recipients. What about people getting food stamps? Medicaid? Potentially anybody working for any government contractor,” a critic warned.

Following last weekend’s attack by a radical Muslim on a homosexual bar in Florida, where more than four dozen were killed and at least as many injured, Democrats have begun demanding bans on some people buying “assault weapons,” although the long gun used in Orlando’s attack was a common rifle.

Responding to a question, Johnson told CBS depriving people of the right to buy – based on suspicion that puts them on a watch list, is “something that has to be addressed.”

At the Wall Street Journal, Julian Routh wrote that presidential candidates in the 2016 White House race are on opposite sides.

While Democrat Hillary Clinton called the rifle “weapons of war” and said they should not be on streets, GOP candidate Donald Trump rejected calls for more restrictions.

CBS reported the nation already has a no-fly list based on suspicion, and Johnson believes a no-buy list might be feasible.

Johnson described Obama as “frustrated” but still “determined” on the issue.

He not the only one exhibiting frustration. On Monday, Democrats in Congress shouted at House Speaker Paul Ryan, “demanding to know why the House isn’t considering gun control legislation,” according to a report.

Katie Pavlich at TownHall wrote, however, about the irony of the suggestion.

The Orlando shooter was employed by G4S security as a licensed, professional guard and authorized to carry a firearm on duty.

And the company holds contracts with the DHS to protect federal buildings and critical facilities such as nuclear sites.

Further, the Muslim terrorist was interviewed by the FBI several times.

“At no point were his security credentials revoked. Maybe instead of focusing on gun control, Johnson should be focused on not allowing DHS contracted companies to employ those under FBI investigation for terrorism,” Pavlich suggested.

This, with possible variations, will be my standard answer henceforth.

More restrictions on firearms to end the violence by jihadim?  Let’s see how well that’s working with other government programs.  Certain drugs are either illegal or only allowed with a doctor’s prescription, isn’t that so!  There is even a specific law enforcement agency to enforce the laws – the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).  Yet, within the US many tons of illegal drugs are grown and manufacturer.  Law enforcement at all levels struggle to stem the flood.  Billions are spend, thousands imprisoned, yet the flood continues.  Outside our borders, even more hundreds of tons come over the borders, under the borders, by plane, ship, submarine, truck and on the backs of illegals. Government, at best, catches a minor amounts.

Entering the nation or over staying a visa is illegal. There is even a federal law enforcement agency to stop the flow – the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE).  Yet, there are at least 11 million illegals living and working amongst us.  Billions are spent to stem the tide, yet still they come.

There is a federal law enforcement agency to keep illegal firearms and explosives under control and legal firearms in the hands of citizens without criminal records – the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).  Yet, this agency was responsible for one of the largest single transfer of firearms to drug cartels.

If the government can’t keep out millions of illegals, hundreds of tons of drugs from being manufactured in the nation or smuggled into the nation, how are we to believe they will do much to control firearms, once they are made illegal for law abiding citizens?  There is no magic spell that would suddenly render the government competent to control firearms, when it has proven barely competent to control drugs and illegals.  Firearms are easily manufactured.  The Dutch made submachine guns out of bicycle parts in WWII.  During the Spanish Civil War, some of the finest examples were made in machine shops.  The Brits turned out the Sten gun quickly and easily in small shops. With modern manufacturing, many of the parts can be stamped out, rather than made on laths.  We are on the brink of 3D printing firearms out using metal powders.  Magazines used to be the weak point in manufacturing because special machines were required to make them.  Israel made their own Uzis, but relied in magazines made in Europe for years.  Now, magazines may be made of high impact plastic on commonly available equipment.  I have one from Israel that survived being run over by an army 2.5 ton truck (deuce and a half).  Those magazine may now be 3D printed.

Just another government effort to spend billions, hamper law abiding citizens, deny another civil right with little to show for their efforts.

So Hillary and Obama's solution is to decrease the number of weapons we could use to defend ourselves. But, import tens of thousands of possible jehadim?  Have I got that right!

You left out the ones who come across the borders with the illegal drugs and new welfare recipients. I guess when the load of drugs makes it to market a guard who finds his AK too heavy to lug back can find a ready buyer.

I have no doubt that if the Government does attempt a gun grab that hopefully the sanity of local law enforcement will prevail as the last line of defense of our Constitutional  rights.  Certainly there are enough out there that there would be a complete blood bath if Government was to even attempt a gun grab from private citizens.

Depends on how weĺl they've been infiltrated.

With all the talk of moves by Congress or politicians to somehow legislate a way for the Courts to deprive Citizens of the 2nd Amendment right to own and bear firearms I fear our nation is at an extremely dangerous tipping point.  Already we have seen the Courts legislating from the bench and it would be nothing for a Court to redefine the 2nd Amendment to destroy our freedom.

I have no doubt though that if such an event takes place that it will be more volatile than actually tossing gas onto a raging fire.  I can only hope, as I mentioned in my prior post, that local law enforcement and even the military will stand firm on the Constitution and reject any call from politicians or the court to seize weapons.  If they don't then I foresee an extremely violent uprising among the citizens of this nation to the point of Civil War with Washington, Judges and Politicians being in the cross hairs of an up to now silent number of people who have never dreamed such events could be as close to happening as they seem to actually be.

I surely hope sanity prevails for the fields are ripe for anarchy due to a mix of Political Correctness and isolation of Politicians from reality and the mood of the Nation.  No more evidence need be provided than the willful deliberate ignorance of Politicians and certain media regarding the motive and cause of the Orlando attack.  Citizens will stand for a lot but I have no doubt that at some point there is a tipping point beyond which unfathomable acts of revolt and civil disobedience and that actioning of militias which have been dormant awaiting such a profound abuse of our Constitutional freedoms.   The fact that highest management and leadership in Homeland Security, the FBI, and the Justice Department consider Right Wing extremist more a risk than Radical Islamic Terrorism which has already made many successful attacks upon our nation.  They worry about guns and the number of those killed by guns yet totally ignore the Islamic declaration of war, jihad, upon America with the September 11th attacks where more than 3000 innocent civilians were murdered and without a single shot being fired from a gun.   Also it is illegal in every State to fashion, make, or possess a bomb yet the Boston Marathon bombers enacted their carnage regardless of what legislation and laws was on the books.

Our Politicians are already isolated from those they represent, let us hope they get a dose of wisdom before they ignite a firestorm that threatens to engulf or very society.  I can think of no time in my lifetime that so many various and diverse groups were potentially in conflict against each other and a boiling point so close to an eruption of anarchy among the general public.  The State of this Nation is solely at the door of the Democratic party and those who elected and re-elected the most incompetent and embarrassing, unqualified President this Nation has ever seen or had.  If there was ever a time Prayer was needed for our Nation it's today for failure to see and acknowledge a real viable, clear and present danger to this Nation in the threat of Radical Islamic Terrorism and the false fabrication of the straw man in being the 2nd Amendment right to own and possess firearms as the threat leaves our Nation not only severely divided but ripe for further attacks and destruction from within.  It is truly a very uncertain and dangerous time for Freedom itself for if the 2nd Amendment can fall then the 1st cannot be far behind for when runaway government or courts begins to legislate away our freedoms apart from procedures dictated and provided for by our Constitution then we have officially declared our Constitution null and void and certainly under dire threat from within.

The great difference between today and times past when civil discord and rebellion was loosed upon and within our Nation is that with technology today and in the hands of our Governmental leaders efforts to right the ship and regain control of a Government run amuck can be squelched easily.  If such a point is reached the real test of whether the Nation is to be lost or saved will be in the hands of individual military leaders and soldiers as well as first line defenders in our Police Departments and how they would react to Political and Judicial influence and directives that would be contrary to their understanding of and the wording of the Constitution itself.
