Where can I get a good hot dog ? I don't want to drive all the way to Bunyuns for Hotdogs.

The hotdog place on Mobile Steet is the best and too expensive for me.

The dog house across from B.M. Ingrams has been closed a while from a sickness in the family.

I think the place across from Dandy's is up for sale. He had some good ones. When you say the place
on Mobile street are you referring to Da Old Chicago Cafe?

The place on Mobile Street I do not know what the name of it was. It is close to the corner of Court Street from the old Shoals Theater.

Ya, thats the same place. i just ate an Italian beef sandwich there yesterday. It was goooood! His pizzas are pretty good also. I don't know of any other hot dog places. I think I can fix a good all beef hot dog at home so i don't go out shopping for them at eateries. Try the Q-Gas on hwy 72 east. The one just before Shoals Creek bridge. you can get a pepsi and a dog for $1.50

I got a hotdog there one time that had been cooked for 2 or 3 hours. It was ok. I didn't like the idea of having to fix it myself though.
We have both Krystal's & White Castle here. I get in the mood for a Krystal every now and then, always good. White Castle will give you the runs.

Best hot dog I've ever had was in B'ham. It's a tiny place down town with a neon sign. The inside is barely wide enough to walk through. An old man & his wife run it and I believe make their own chili. I had a chili dog & an ice cold IBC root beer, one of the best meals I can remember. Anyone know the name of that place by chance? I'd love to go back but I don't know if I could find it again if I tried.

Nash,

You're speaking of the little joint known locally as "Pete's Famous." Pete's Famous Hot Dogs is located downtown on 2nd Ave North, just as it has been for well over 60 years. It's in the 1900 block, just off the 20th Street "main drag" that goes through the Southside's 5-Points area and into downtown.

p.s. Gus is only 77, going on 78. Smiler

Yes! That's the one, thanks for the info. I don't know when I'll be in B'ham again, but next time I'm there, I won't leave without going back to see Gus.
