If I have a daughter she will not take part in any organization that has ties to planned parenthood, no matter how good the cookies are.
As a local Girl Scout leader, I can tell you that is absolutely NOT what we are teaching the girls here. Our discussions revolve around inner beauty and personal hygiene. More likely than not, we are talking about and exploring future career and school opportunities. I have 4th and 5th grade girls who are exploring being doctors, lawyers, and engineers.

Pregnancy rates are what they are because of people like you who fail to educate their kids about sex. The stupid "Wait until marriage" legacy from the Bush era has a lot to do with it, too.
God has designed us to ENJOY sex. I certainly do. Often. Teenager's hormones are much more powerful that we adults can now imagine. We stupidly expect kids (who possess a license to be stupid) to "wait until marriage" and are constantly shocked to find that they are having sex just as much as we did when we were their age.
Widely available education and birth control is THE answer to this whole teen pregnancy dilemma. I think it is so sad that people in the south just can't grasp that simple concept.

It has already been proven that babies, while at first discover the feeling by accident by brushing their hand against the genitalia area,will continue to explore that area of the body out of curiosty. Parents, however, will teach kids not to touch there...have you not ever seen a baby reach for their privates and coo or laugh?

On the oprah show was a "lady" discussing her book on the joys of being an NBA groupie and how thrilling it was and by the end of the show she had the "ladies" in the show cheering. "Men have been having all the fun for all these years. Now it's OUR turn!" she squealed to thunderous applause. What's good for the goose....
On phil was the leader of a women's AIDS group. She was screeching about the fact that AIDS was spreading so much faster among women than men and it was the government's fault. She claimed the government wasn't doing enough about it because most politicians are men so they don't care.
Of course anyone with just a beginners' knowledge of anatomy knows why heterosexual women are much more vulnerable to AIDS than heterosexual men. The main target of her wraith should have been directed at the "lady" on the preceding show who was urging the women of America to "Get out there and have fun just like the men!"
I'm sure female viewers were perplexed.It reminded me of a scene in "Raising Arizona" when a bank robber told everyone, "Alright ya' hayseeds, it's a stick-up. Everybody freeze. Everybody down on the ground." An old man replied, "Well, which is it young feller? You want I should freeze or get down on the ground? Mean to say, if'n I freeze, I can't rightly drop. And if'n I drop, I'ma gonna be in motion. You see..."
There's an old and very true statement: If you play, you pay. I don't know what the statistics are these days but hopefully women heeded the very real dangers of "playing." Hopefully, parents won't let their daughters fall prey to people like the ones putting out this garbage.

It is kind of gross if you sit and think on it, but it is a natural, normal part of human development. Our pets masturbate, too. Yeah, yuck, but that's just how it goes. It's as normal as peeing.
The larger issue here is what the parent organization of GSUSA is up to, and whether GSUSA, as a dues paying member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), supports these efforts.
This brochure was discovered after a WAGGGS hosted meeting at the recent UN Commission on the Status of Women meetings. It is entirely consistent with the WAGGGS agenda. If you go to the WAGGGS website, you will see that they have posted info about the delegates they sent to the UN meetings. The INTERNATIONAL version of the GS are spot on. Reproductive righs are being witheld from young women who desperately need it. Someone needs to sand up for the rights of young women on an international scale. The GS are just the people to do it.
You might have a point if this brochure were being passed out to 8 year old girls here in the US. But that IS NOT what's happenening, This is a brochure for young women WITH HIV!

Your post made me laugh -- for it brought to mind a very funny incident. In the early 1980s, my mom and step-dad came to visit us in Southern California. And, like good hosts we took them sightseeing. One stop was the San Diego Zoo. When we arrived, the line to get on the Tour Guide Shuttle was too long, so we decided to just walk around by ourselves.
As we were walking by the bear pen, a Tour Guide Shuttle pulled up and stopped so the folks could take a look at the bears. This particular shuttle was full of senior citizens and had an attractive young lady as the Tour Guide. She began in her bouncy, very personable Tour Guide voice to explain to the shuttle of senior citizens about the habits of the bears.
Casually, a big male bear who was standing closest to the fence, sat down facing the senior citizens, leaned back -- and starting masturbating. I am not kidding. His first time erection excited him and he was laughing about it and proudly showing off this new accomplishment to his mom.
That said, I still believe it is wrong for Planned Parenthood and the United Nations to encourage sexual activity among young girls and young boys. Let them have their childhood; before they start living the life of sexually active adults.
