Note: Aderholt is the only Alabama representative to vote against the grain.


The 263-171 roll call Friday by which the House approved a $700 billion government bailout bill for the battered financial industry.

A "yes" vote is a vote to pass the bill.

Voting yes were 172 Democrats and 91 Republicans.

Voting no were 63 Democrats and 108 Republicans.

At least our two Senators voted NO!! And Shelby was the minority Chair of the committee so you know the bill was a bad move. The stock market actually went down after the passage.

FYI, in an interview I saw with an "economic historian" on CNBC, it was declared that our Great Depression would have ended sooner without the governments' intervention with the new regulations and higher tax rates that were passed. There were industries and wealthy Americans that closed the businesses to cash until the Depression was over in order to keep from paying punitive tax rates.
