I would say that not ALL Christians are this full of hate for Muslims. Also, I have found that its more of a right-wing stance (which is more Christian).

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/f...e/seed-of-terrorism/

Did you know that your Facebook behavior might be fueling a new kind of terrorism?

For all of our talk of terrorism, we rarely talk about what actually causes terrorism other than canned one-liners that aren’t always accurate. I think most often the root causes are fear, misunderstanding, or responding to injustice unjustly– but I think that if you could distill it down to the most basic form, you’d find something that was rooted in fear.

When fear takes our brains over one goes into fight or flight mode, which is a natural reaction that all animals- from humans to to a wild gazelle- experience when fear or a perceived threat is looming. When this happens our primal instincts take over and some parts of the brain literally shut down so that we can more acutely focus on the source of our fear (which can lead to both rational and irrational choices). In a larger, more collective sense, I think this is similar to what fuels terrorism: one is fed a message of fear long enough that fear takes over, and that fear finds ways to justify destroying what we think is the source of our fear. This fear, I believe, is the mustard seed of terrorism- one that must be weeded, not watered.

There is an unchallenged fear in the Christian community, one that is being watered instead of weeded: the fear of Muslims. Sadly, we are not beyond becoming terrorists ourselves, and after many years of heavy consumption of anti-Muslim fear, I think we’re seeing that happening.

Just this week a news story broke that isn’t getting much attention: the arrest of aChristian terrorist here in the United States. Dr. Robert Doggart was arrested for plotting terrorism against American Muslims in Islamberg, New York, and as theDaily Beast points out, this guy isn’t a fringe nut-job; he is an ordained minister, holds a PhD, is a Navy veteran, and even ran for congress once. Yet, his fear of Muslims obviously became so over-powering that he planned a horrific terrorist attack. He took to Facebook to recruit others, writing that: “20 expert gunners can do a lot of damage, both physically and psychologically.” Both online and in recorded calls, Doggart articulated a ghastly plan: attack the town from multiple angles, burn down the buildings– and to even cut the Muslims “to shreds” with machetes if they had to. In his own words:

“[T]he people we seek will know who we are. We will be cruel to them. And we will burn down their buildings.”

His motivation? Well, God of course. In a Facebook post he wrote:

“Our small group will soon be faced with the fight of our lives. We will offer those lives as collateral to prove our commitment to our God. We shall be warriors who inflict horrible numbers of casualties upon the enemies of our nation and world peace.”

The question begs to be asked: how does a Christian- one who supposedly follows the “Prince of Peace” become a terrorist? The answer is simple: fear.

In America we like to feast on a diet of fear against Muslims, and it’s something that hits us from all sides. Imagine how this story would have played out in the media had a Muslim Imam planned to attack a town in New York called “Christianville” with military weapons, firebombs and machetes? Everyone would be talking about it. Yet, when it’s a Christian minister who plots to do this to a town named Islamberg, the story doesn’t get nearly the attention it would if the roles were reversed.

Further, Christian social media- such as Facebook- never seems to miss a story that paints Muslims as a threat. Not a week goes by where I don’t have things pop into my own newsfeed, posted by Christians, which play into this anti-Muslim fear based narrative that many seem to just gobble up.

In fact, in previous weeks I’ve been getting a lot of Facebook advertisements inviting me to “like” Franklin Graham. On the advertisement it reads: “Praying that our president will wake up to the true threat of Islam.”

Instead of “fear not” as scripture commands, we’ve become gluttons for anything that plays into the Christian fear of Muslims. Like sex, “it sells.”

But here’s the danger of playing into the narrative by never missing an opportunity to water the seed of anti-Islamic fear: it is feeding a type of fear that is causing Christians to become terrorists.

Robert Doggart was probably once upon a time a decent guy- he’s probably nice to his kids, and kind to his dog. But, he clearly fed on the fear narrative too long, and this led someone from the tribe of Jesus to actually plan a violent attack on fellow Americans who were no threat to him- or anyone else.

I fear the oxymoron of a “Christian terrorist” is one that we may potentially hear more and more often, as we combine our diet of fear against Muslims with the American love of blowing crap up.

However, this is a tragedy in waiting that can be mitigated to some degree: it will simply require more and more of us to stand up and lovingly rebuke those within the Christian tribe who water the seed of terrorism.

How so Hoob? Please give me an example?

I try to not spread hate or fear. I do my level best to only post what I know to be real and accurate. Sometimes I post opinion, but my opinion on religion is that everyone has a right to believe as they wish, and no one has the right to force or legislate their personal religious beliefs.

You're blinded by your own hatred.  Re-read your posts,  I can't do that for you.

Here is a list of terrorism incidents in 2015.  Can you point out the ones related to Christianity.  Maybe what Hub means is that the left is attempting to equate a mountain with a mole hill and in so dangerously minimizing what is going on in the world as a result of Islamic terrorism.

Chuck pretty much summed it up.  Jankapuppy are blinded by their hatred of Christians.  So much that they actually believe the crap that is randomly posted on the internet.

The only ones who are not opposed to Islam are Muslims and those too stupid to not see it for what it really is.  Right or left/Christian or atheist, these groups have absolutely nothing to do with the who "hates" muslims the most.  You are either aware or you are stupid, ignorance plays no role in this debate.

I don't hate Christians. Most of my family are Christians. Actually I don't hate anyone. Hate is a very ugly and wasted emotion.

What I am aware of is the fearmongering going on and how it effects us all. Where I see it the most (in the US) is with the right and the Christians. Many Christians in this country have succumb to the hype and the hysteria that has been fed to them. Their fear has overrode their common sense. Muslims in this country are no worse or better than Christians. I view them equally. They both believe in superstitious mumbo jumbo and they both think that their belief is the only right one. Sadly the rest of us have no choice but to deal with the fallout. The article I posted did a great job of showing the blindness of the Christians to their own terrorist. The fighting between Islam and Christianity has been going on practically from the beginning of their inception. They have at times been peaceful and cooperative with each other and at other times violent to each other.

Those of us that don't buy into either of these superstitious cults are caught in the middle. It used to be that this fighting was kept in the middle east where they both originated, but now it has come here. Sadly, with attitudes like you and Chuck have, we will more than likely have to deal with a religious war right here at home. If our secular government is destroyed (and Christians are working hard to do that) then people like me won't have any kind of rights or safety from either group. Both hate atheists, gays and treat women as less than men.

Do you actually believe the sh*t you make up in your head or do you think that if you just throw a crazy comment out there no one will question it? Who is bending over backwards for the Islamic radicals?

Both Christianity and Islam have the same views on gays, atheists, and women. I'm glad to (for now anyway) be living in a secular country where they aren't allowed to fully implement their beliefs regarding those they deem sinful, abominations, and lessor human beings.

Keep up Chuck, we are talking about this country. You know, the one with the secular government that protects it's citizens from such things? When was the last time you heard of a muslim stoning a gay person in the US? Without the laws and protections we have in this country they would both do the same thing here. Have you seen what is going on in Africa with the Christians?

The point is, here in America, we have decided that people have the right to practice what ever their chosen religion might be. As long as they don't hurt others or deny others their same rights. I fully support that. Lately, there have been some Christians that would deny that right to Muslims based on what others in their religion have done. As I said before, it's all a bunch of superstition to me, but to each his own.

Does it HAVE to be planes? Cause that is a pretty narrow category. Here are a few examples of Christian terrorism on US soil.

Eric Robert Rudolph (born September 19, 1966), also known as the Olympic Park Bomber, is responsible for a series of anti-abortion and anti-gay-motivated bombings across the southern United States between 1996 and 1998, which killed two people and injured 111 others. The Federal Bureau of Investigation considers him a terrorist.[1]

As a teenager Rudolph was taken by his mother to a Church of Israel compound in 1984; it is connected to the Christian Identity movement, that believes whites are God's chosen people. He has confirmed religious motivation, but denied racial motivation for his crimes.

He spent five years on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list until he was caught in 2003. In 2005, as part of a plea bargain, Rudolph pleaded guilty to numerous federal and state homicide charges and accepted four consecutive life sentences in exchange for avoiding a trial and a potential death sentence. He remains incarcerated at the ADX Florence supermax prison in Florence, Colorado.

And...

The Phineas Priesthood is comprised of extremists who claim to be "Phineas Priests" after committing violent acts against people they consider to be breaking "Biblical Law," including interracial couples, abortion providers, and homosexuals. Most people who have declared themselves Phineas Priests are adherents of Christian Identity, a racist and anti-Semitic religion. Christian Identity teaches that white people are descended from the Lost Tribes of Israel and are thus God's chosen people, that Jews are descendents of Satan, and that non-whites are soulless "mud people." It is also opposed to taxation.

Here is some Christian Identity members that got caught:

Then there is the Army of God

Just a tiny bit of their handy work

A gay and lesbian nightclub in Atlanta, The Otherside Lounge, is bombed, injuring five people. A second explosive is found on the side of the building, apparently set to go off after first responders such as police, firemen, and paramedics respond to the first explosion; that bomb is safely detonated with no injuries or damage suffered. After the bombing, a handwritten, unsigned letter is sent to the Reuters news agency, claiming that this and a January 1997 bombing of an abortion clinic (see January 16, 1997) are the work of what the letter claims to be “units of the Army of God.” The Army of God (AOG—see1982) is a violent anti-abortion organization. The letter also warns that anyone involved with the performance of abortions “may become victims of retribution.” Regarding the bombing of the gay and lesbian nightclub, the letter states, “We will target sodomites, their organizations, and all those who push their agenda.”

The point being that Muslims are no more likely to commit terrorism in the US than Christians. Every Christian I personally know would NEVER do such things. Just like most Muslims would not stone a gay person or behead an atheist. However, both religious groups adhere to a doctrine that could be used to justify these things. If given the right environment and consent, some members will act on that dogma. Examples: The middle east and Africa. As in the OP that told the story of Dr Robert Doggert, Christians have become so convinced that even the average everyday practicing Muslim, is a terrorist. So what does he do? Plans his own terrorist attack. Somehow and someway this has to stop.
