north alabama speedway is on highway 247, about a mile south of 72. moulton speedway is about 5 miles south of moulton on 157. they have every kind of dirt car you can imagine. on special nights, they have winged sprints.

my co-worker who posted this under my name, will most likely post more info under her name tomorrow. Razzer

They have the winged sprint cars on special nights through the year...but weekly they have open wheel, mini stock, modified street, outlaw street, late models and super late models....

www.northalabamaspeedway.com is the website to the local track...it has a schedule and pics on it.

I would suggest taking some kind of clear or yellow tinted glasses, especially if you wear contacts. During the 40-lap super late model feature races it will get dusty and if I dont wear some kind of glasses I get my contacts full of dirt.

Anyone know if they will have the mini-sprints this year? We saw those last year and those are pretty fun to watch also.
We went and had a blast.

Ditto on the glasses thing, I don't wear contacts and I was still having a hard time keeping my eyes open.

Folding chairs are also recommended - those bleachers tend to hurt your butt after a while.

I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a little excitement on the weekend, even if you aren't a big racing fan, it is still something you have to see in person.

I don't know if there is a no smoking section but my only complaint would be having everyone around you smoking. Not a big deal to me but it would have been nice to have an alternative.

And maybe there was - I just didn't see it.

Other than that, everything was awesome.
Hey guys, I'm the fifty fifty girl at North Alabama Speedway on Hwy 247
So glad you enjoyed your trip to the track.. I noticed a lot of smokers as well last night.. as I walked through the bleachers Frowner

Friday night July 4th - Fireworks * plus a Super Late Model race special
And the best thing of all .. It only costs $5.00 for admission!!
The following week the Lucas Oil Series will be in racing action - for those of you who have seen these guys on television competeting in World Of Outlaw Events.
I'm not sure about the Mini Sprints..although we have had USCS once this year.. possibly another time later this season i'll have to check the schedule--

It's definitely a fun filled night of entertainment - I encourage you all to come if you have never been :-D

Very fun stuff.

have you ever seen the european speedway racing that comes on speedTV occassionally? its very similar to AMA flattrack. if you think that chris carr can hang it out on a bike, those european guys are all but sideways. the control that it takes to race flat track/speedway is amazing. I've riden most of my life, and I probably couldn't even make a lap!

Putman definitely made it two in a row!!!

Last weekend NAS hosted the LUCAS Oil series which airs on tv!! What a blast! The leader came into lap traffic.. went to the rear..came flying back through the field to run 2nd behind world reknown late model driver Freddy Smith 00 who took the checkered flag!!

If you have never been.. you're missing out!
This Friday night it only costs $5 admission in the grandstands!!

See you all there
hey nash, if you want to see 2 days of drifting, plan to go to the NOPI nationals super show at atlanta motor speedway in september. its a 2 day car show/event that takes up the entire infield, and several outside parking lots. its the largest car show east of the mississippi, and they have a professional drift competition that ends sunday evening. they also have competitions for stereos, hydraulics, horsepower/dyno, and burn-outs. if you like stuff with wheels, its the place to go. last year, one of the drift teams stayed at the hotel we were at, and we got to party with them. the best from the west coast show up to this event. I won 1st in my show class last year.
