so-called citizen journalists at The Huffington Post may be publishing material that's actually written by marketing pros spinning "news" stories.

The curtain has been pulled back....

A month ago, the online Jewish topics magazine Tablet published an article about actors being paid to call in to radio shows and pretend to be real callers. While Tablet didn’t name any specific shows that used the fakes, they mentioned that it was a service run by Premiere Radio Networks which, they pointed out, syndicates the radio shows of “Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sean Hannity.” It wasn’t too hard for many people who read the piece to make the leap that those shows engage in the practice. Today, on air, Limbaugh vehemently denied the allegations.

In a diatribe spanning across a commercial break, Limbaugh accused Tablet of being “Leftist,”

Those who are troubled concerning the accuracy of such sources need to remind themselves that there is still a world of real journalism out there that demands such things as fact-checking and source verification. Call the New York Times or the Washington Post or the Los Angeles Times or the St. Petersburg Times "liberal rags," if that suits you, but those papers and many others, including many of the more conservative ones, do hold to standards that far exceed those of the "crowdsourcing" kind.

THIS really should be the MOTTO for ALL FOXOPHILES when questioning ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY the accuracy of a "news" source:
POT, MEET KETTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"crowdsourcing"

I never understood why any one would think 'news' from bloggers is real. Huff is going down as more realize there is nothing to it but opinion pieces, no news.

The same is true for all the crowdsoucing groups.
Just because you have a computer and can log into a site does not make you a 'credible source'.
Hey, my tenth grade son told me some story that I have forgotten since, but when I questioned the accuracy of the story, he quickly told me "Yes it is true because I found it on the Internet". I quickly realized it is not just my son, but an entire generation that is thinking like this. The older generation pretty much knows what spin is, the younger generation largely does not.

As judges commonly have said for many moons, there are three sides to every story, the plaintiffs, the defendants, and the truth. Spin used to be called lying, now it is glorified as fighting for your cause.

Absolutely right, JJ! BUT which supposed "NEWS" source is qouted TIME and again as being inaccurate?? Confused
Which "NEWS" source has been PROVEN to actually LIE and have THOUSANDS of videos on YOU TUBE and other sources to prove it?? Confused

THE ANSWER: FOX NEWS, they are fairly imbalanced toward brainwashing America to think RIGHT WING, ALL DAY ALL THE TIME! (If this ever really DOES become their new and truthful slogan: ROYALTY demands apply Big Grin)
