That Allman Bros clip reminds me of when I saw them in Tuscaloosa. Must have been 1973, just after Duane was killed.

I wore slacks and a white buttoned shirt, because you have to dress for a concert, right?

I did take a few j's, for what that was worth back then. Most likely oregano.

We had made "arrangements" for tickets. Not surprisingly, the arrangements never happened. We ended up buying tickets from a scalper for the outrageous price of $25 each. So much for our spending money. We were lucky to get back to Sheffield with the gas in Robert's Ford Torino.

I remember I spoke to an usher, a nice college girl a few years older than I, and I tried out a line I'd seen in the movies. I called her "darling" or "sweety" or some such. She practically disemboweled me. Ruined me for movie lines for years.

At my age, I can get away with it now, but to different ends than what I intended in '73. Sigh.

Thanks for the link, it's still good music.

Rock and roll owes everything to Swing.

The first time I saw ABB was '96 Memphis in May festival. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic were playing on the opposite side of Tom Lee Park and went on about 30 min before ABB.

Suddenly, the opening riff of "Statesboro Blues" tore through the crowd from the other side of the park. I remember half the crowd turning their heads then in a mass exodus, headed toward the bluesy sounds and green fog. Still one of my favorite shows.
