Most of those on this forum that I consider nuts are cat people.

My friend Dr. Robert Sapolsky addresses the strong possibility that cats may be the source of Toxoplasma affecting some animals including the human.

This could explain the fringe personalities on the part of many of you, my specimens, involved in  my ongoing study of human behavior.

i suggest everyone with a lick-of-sense check this out. http://www.edge.org/3rd_cultur...apolsky09_index.html

This is scary. Fire, DF and LMM quickly come to mind. Uno, i don't know. He must feed on cats.

   Dark, do you luvv cats?

I'm sure you think it amusing, but in case anyone might believe you, here goes off the top of my head:

1. Toxoplasmosis is transmitted from cats via ***** only.

2. The incubation period is 24 to 72 hours. (Clean your litter box)

3. If your cat is an inside cat, he/she can't catch it.

4. If your cat has had it, he/she can't have it again.

5. If you have had it, you can't have it again.

6. Between 65% and 75% of all adults in the US have had toxoplasmosis, contracted mainly via undercooked meat.

One caveat: Those with impaired immune systems could suffer adverse affects, as could a fetus. Bottom line, keep your cat indoors and clean your litter often.

say what you want to. katz are xxerous

wikkiipedia says so:

"Studies have also shown behavioral changes in humans, including slower reaction times and a sixfold increased risk of traffic accidents among infected males,[12] as well as links to schizophrenia including hallucinations and reckless behavior. Recent epidemiologic studies by Stanley Medical Research Institute and Johns Hopkins University Medical Center indicate that infectious agents may contribute to some cases of schizophrenia.[13][14] A study of 191 young women in 1999 reported higher intelligence and guilt proneness in Toxoplasma-positive subjects.[15]

The prevalence of human infection by Toxoplasma varies greatly between countries. Factors that influence infection rates include diet (prevalence is possibly higher where there is a preference for less-cooked meat) and proximity to cats.["

The point is you can't catch it from a cat that doesn't have it and if you don't touch stray cat droppings with your bare skin, you can't catch it from cats. As stated, most of us in the US have had toxoplasmosis and we contracted it via meat. Symptoms are similar to a mild flu like illness. So it's already too late for most of us. Sorry, but don't blame cats unless your social circle runs around playing with feral cat excrement.
