I watched Charles often, as a viewer of Fox News and those who broadcast on FOX and I was always admiring Charles opinions and views.  He was and still is, undoubtedly a very intelligent and smart man whose wisdom was sought out by people on both sides of the political spectrum.  I hate to hear that his condition is such that death is all but certain but like many of the other things Charles has written about an approached he has done so with dignity and professionalism.

I will miss his input and views on various things.   One thing I couldn't help but pick up on, from the article about Charles pending death and the letter that he penned to Fox and others was how things progressively worsened after the surgery he had last year.  I do not have cancer, however, I do have an incurable illness that I have endured throughout my life and all thought this last year have been debating having an additional surgery in order to address some increasing problems that I have had crop up due to this illness.

The illness that I have is called Crohn's disease and while a great many people suffer from it today at the time I initially was diagnosed with it ... it was called an orphan disease due to the few people that had it.  There has been a lot of progress in dealing with it and treating it but no known cause or cure of it yet exist.  Reading about Charles and his continued complications from the surgery he had last year gives me pause about allowing them to go in and open me up, once again, because of the fear I have that it will create a situation where my disease will spread or create a whole new batch of problems I don't deal with now.  Sadly that decision may be made for me without my input but as long as I have that input I believe I'll try and delay additional surgery as long as I can.

Given my last surgery was 1983 or there about I've been very fortunate to have it in remission for as long as it was.  I honestly believe it would have stayed in remission if it had not have been for managerial changes where I worked that put my own personal job in a much more negative situation to the point where it actually brought my disease out of remission due to so much greater job stress than I had ever been used to up to that point.  Like many diseases and illnesses, Crohn's disease doesn't react too well to high-stress situations.  I hate to see Charles have to deal with this but like everything else Charles has dealt with he has been professional in the way he has approached it.
