The TV shows these days are stupid, I liked it when we had shows like, Leave It To Beaver, Dennis The Menace, Happy Day's, Highway To Heaven, i.e. Country music is not country music anylonger either. The food we eat today is not as good as the food mommy's used to cook and the food they sale in grocery stores are not as good as the food you use to get when daddy's used to grow a garden.

The schools these days are not like the old schools, where there was respect for the teachers and you learn the basics not all the bull that is taught today.

When stores shut down on Sunday and families had get togethers.

When Christmas was Christmas and not what it is today.

When people did not try to run over you, because they are in such a rush.

When a hand shake was a man's word, and not a stab in the back as it is today.

This world is in a hurry and I don't know why, song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL35oOdkn6w

And I do approve this message.

I reckon Cole Porter said it best:

"Times change and we've often rewound the clock
since the Puritans got their shock
when they landed on Plymouth Rock.
Any shock they might try to stem,
instead of landing on Plymouth Rock,
Plymouth Rock would land on them.

In olden days a glimpse of stocking
was looked on as something shocking,
but now Lord knows
Anything Goes!"

I wish I could find fish sticks like the ones we used to get.
When I was in school, the school cafeteria used commodity food. Some was pretty bad, but the fish sticks and the cheese were so good I remember them to this day. Haven't been able to find any place that has any like them for sale.

i miss real gas stations, where they'd check your oil and clean your windshield and could actually fix your car, if there was something wrong with it. and business people who knew you, were happy to see you and whom you were happy to see and share a few minutes conversation with.

good post, bluesy.
.........Me too hossgal...you can't even put air in your tires in Tuscumbia.

I totally agree!!! I used to work in a gas station where it was MANDITORY that we checked the oil, washer fluid, water level and wiggled the battery cables. Then we asked if they needed wipers, cigerettes or a soft drink before they left (back when smoking wasn't so uncool as it is today)!

I would LOVE to open a "full service" station again but the money isn't in gas and air in the tires these days it is in the cokes and smokes and quick snacks that you purchase when you "WALK IN". Let's get back to the good ole days!

When i lived in killen there was a gas station right before crossing he bridge that still pumped your gas, checked oil, etc.
That was before they started the road work for the new bridge.
