As of now, I wonder if short-sighted non-welfare class dimocrats are beginning to worry about the personal hell they may be about to experience because they supported a president who's only goal in life was to give a free ticket to 40 million shiftless people like lil wang, to clog up the health care system at will?

In all actuality, this country is already broke and now we are going to set a world record for more spending? If anyone has ever watched the History Channel's footage of the soup lines back during the Depression, this will be 10 times as bad because we no longer are a law-abiding nation. There will be street violence like the world has never seen. Mark my words.

I agree, we'd better all be preparing to be more self sufficient. We are entering a dark period in our country's history.

I have tried to do just that. Paid for my house before I retired. Got my kids through school and bought a reasonably good car. Then what, my insurance doubled at the start of 2010. Medicare went up. Drugs went up. My SS had no raise. I work to raise my own food for us and our kids and 12 grands. Now I am looking to probably have to help them pay their insurance or they will lose their homes. I came along near the end of the Great depression and I hate to even imagine what our country will see if it happens again. God Help US.

Do you not see the irony in your situation? You sound like talking points for all of the democratic positions. It amazes me that the people who scream the loudest on this forum would benefit the most from healthcare reform OR take advantage of "socialized medicine" OR have kids who would benefit from assistance for higher education THEN have the audacity to complain that there SS check was not increased AND to top it off call anyone who points this out to them are welfare "moochers" FOX NEWS is not your friend, you are just to prejudice and ignorant to see it for yourself.

And it amazes me that the people on this forum who love the Obama plan so much are the same people who have the weakest grasp of how economics work, or how the real world actually works. No wait, that actually doesn't surprise me.

ok dolepineapple: I'll bite. Why is your view of economics (or should I say the view you have been taught by Glenn Beck and Fox News) the correct view and just because I don't subscribe to the trickle down theory I am wrong? How well has Bushies and the thugs tax cuts for the rich and unfunded mandates worked for the country so far? Where did the deficit come from? Healthcare could have been paid for by the useless war in Iraq but Darthvader Cheney had to look out for Haliburton.

I'm not a Glenn Beck fan. I don't watch Fox News. "Trickle Down" is not a school of economic thought. And, finally, you are wrong because you simply do not understand how this stuff works.

Bush was an awful president, but that in no way makes this heinous piece of legislation good. This goes back to you not understanding stuff. It is entirely possible for two presidents, from different parties, to both do a terrible job.

40+ years of bad government.

Here's more of you not putting 2 and 2 together. Iraq is not healthcare, and healthcare is not Iraq. Both can be, and in fact are/were, major mistakes.

Why are you taking care of all these people? Don't they have a way of supporting themselves?

Are you sure that the DLC even qualifies as the Democratic Party as commonly understood by most? Remember "triangulation?"

willie only signed the Republican congressional bill on welfare reform AFTER he completely lost the house AND senate in '94. Of course it didn't go far enough but it was a decent start.
